I may have what I would consider a pretty creative and new (at least to me) way to "say" Forum domain. I know that Forum domains arent big sellers since it is so easy to "domain-around-them" (we need a good word for this term).

So with this new forum Domain-word/way I would only want to reg a few of the biggest categories for forums.

What would they be in your opinion.

The shorter they are the better for my add-on-word-domain...

sex
money
health

comes to mind...

BTW - have you guys seen www.Big-Boards.com pretty interesting and a true testiment of the power of FORUMS. NP is climbing fast. Congrats RJ and us all...

according to big board Corvettes and Mustang are big but those might be quite saturated.

Anybody have any idea of a sellable word combined with my new "forum-word" - dont worry about how it would go with it - it would...

good help would be "A-rep-ciated"...

Maybe a better question is - what forum categories are needed?
I personally wish someone would create a dot cc forum.
I would also like to see an active cloning forum.
And maybe some forums for learning different languages.

sorry if it wasnt clear: what I mean is Say the same in a different way.

I mean simply just come up with a different domain for what you need.

For example. I have and launched

www.FormulaOneTalk.com

to domain around this would be to ask the question: I need a good F1 forum name. What should I reg.

How about

FormulaOneFreaks.com (probably not avail but you know what I mean - I hope)

But the question from a Domain value stand point - what domain categories old or NEw (why not) would the best to "catch".

Sorry...but you're really not making much sense, at least not to me...

I *think* I understand what he is trying to say. He wants to replace words like "forum" or "talk" with a secret word of his own. So, let's say the secret word was apple. Since webmasterforum.com and webmastertalk.com are registered, he'd go ahead and grab webmasterapple.com

Popular categories are current TV shows, video games, computers, web design/graphics, general discussion, and hobby related.

You can go to http://www.big-boards.com/ and look at their categories to get some ideas.

So what is his question? What type of forums he should create?

If that's the case, you should be the one deciding, not us...one of the most important things to consider when you're picking a category is choosing something that YOU are interested in...if you create forums that you're not interested in, it's gonna be hard to keep them going in the long run...make a list of things you're interested in and then compare them to the current competition. Something else that is important is to make sure you have something unique to offer...something that people cannot get from an already existing forum.

finding a replcament word might be easy, and it might make sense to you, but it will probably have no value.
a forum is a forum, so you'd lose traffic to the forum name.

keep in mind that a made up word alternative for forum will be extremelly difficult to resell, and practically anyone can do it.

as to major categories, I'd search 'forum' on overture and see whats under that. that will give you a good isdea of what forum topics are searched for most often.

Overture - Good idea. As to evaluate the domain beofre knowing the "word" makes no sense either. Just pretend "its a outof this world good word".
