I don't think you can, though I haven't heard of anyone's domain name being taken away by neustar (the company behind .us). They're a lazy lazy bunch.

much like everything else a person is prohibited from doing in/with/to/for the .US of A - it's for your own damn good, and if not that then at least for the safety and sanctity of all that is holy and decent in this world.

but basically it's for your own damn good. be glad you "can't" reg .us, probably save you from throwing away some good money better spent on .in names ...

(just kidding more or less - sorry! joke!) :hehe:

I have to disagree. It's a bit different when it it's one of the most successful countries in the world. One that everyone looks to for aid when things go wrong

oh, they do!
(see dragons post to see why)
was well documneted in .us section as dropped other day and didnt sell for much either
they are lazy 'promoting' the extension which is 'one' of the reasons it is doing so badly.

to be avoided if non-resident

See here for the .us nexus requirements: http://www.neustar.us/policies/docs/ustld_nexus_requirements.pdf

I can personally confirm that I have witnessed Neustar take away domains. Luckily, I am in compliance, but I have seen it happen to more than one person. In fact, an individual who was not in compliance easily lost a $xx,xxx domain.

Indeed, yet the nexus requirements seem somewhat subject to interpretation. For instance what constitutes bona fide US presence ?
Canadian rules are more clear as I see them.
