I have looked at every major forum engine that uses php,mysql....

I really like this one because of the speed. Tell me what you think.

I know Vbulletin is the forum standard but there are a few things I don't like about vbulletin.

Thanks for your feedback,

Nikos

This is the first I've looked at Celeste Board. It looks like a very good product. I would have to use it for awhile before I'm ready to toss out Vbulletin though. Are you going to start a site with it?

:)

I like the overall design of the board. Nice layout and easy to navigate. The only thing I'm worried about is the functionality of the admin panel. From their screenshots, it doesn't look like it includes many of the functions that VB does.

Although this may be because it is pretty new (June/ July ish). Looks promising if fully developed more.

Yes, I want to start a site that has a huge growth potential. Fastboard is being used in a few chinese boards with 8000 users online at the same time on one server..... The code is optminized using smart caches and minimum sql queries....

The board is http://bbs2.sa20.com/index.php

You will need to use the altavista chinese to english translator to understand what it says....

I know that the english version is pretty new but I like how fast it is. WHT uses 4 dual xeon with one server taking care of just the databases... The typical vbulletin sql queries are 10-15...

The number of queries look a little high as compared to some other boards. However, there is a qualitative difference between our queries and those of many other boards. Let me explain: There are basically two types of SQL queries: 1. queries that work only on one table 2. queries that work on multiple tables (aka joins). As you might guess, joins can be many times slower than simple one-table queries. When fastboard smart cache is on, it turns all joins to simple queries, can be 5 to 6 times faster...

I am not a php/sql programmer.. I just learning by asking...

RJ, are you the coder behind your php site?

I like vBulletin better, they're always working to improve it and they've been around a long time. I'm hoping version 3 is released soon!

My overal first impression of it, is it looks very clean and professional. It seems real easy to navigate, and like Josh said, I'm sure it would be a very promising forum once it's been out a while and been further developed...

:kickass:

Looks good, please keep up posted on any new developments.

Looks professional, but I think the layout should be wider... as on 1024x768 (what most people seem to use) it doesnt fill the screen.

I know this is an old thread but it might be useful. Celeste is faster in terms of speed. Although it lacks some of the features found elsewhere - it is very powerful. We don't want to add too much.

The admin panel I agree can be confusing for some. We are working towards a revamp. Also looking for more developers to join to speed up our development. Your suggestions are welcomed and we do listen!
