What do you think about religious domain names ??

for example this name is not yet registered :
Hildir
bahirah
abasest

I checked bahirah on google... 846 google search results.


I say not worth it... also... not good to list available names on a forum... someone will snatch em up, and since these weren't taken in 2.6 seconds, u can obviously tell they are of not that much value They might be worth something if developed and such, but the google results weren't that great, and I'm 2 lazy to check overture.

I think Religious names don't appeal to the masses

BUT...

Once they are found and accepted by the Religious groups they address, they are very frequently visited and vigorously supported. Very High CTR. For some reason, they tend to be click hounds.

So, by traditional measurements, they get lower traffic but in my opinion, BETTER traffic due to the activeness.

Of course, I am talking about mini or full sites, not Parking sites.

It depends to the eyes your domain name will land

For example i have : ChristianPages.info that gets fair amount of traffic

In general, I think there's plenty of potential in religious domains, and own quite a few. As with all things, though, you want to maximise your potential market, so sticking to the more popular religions is safest.

Sure; that's about as generic a religious term as you can get.

I suppose "religion" is slightly more generic, but "God" wins as it's only three characters.

Mainstream religious names can have significant value. Obscure ones (just my opinion) like the ones listed in the original post probably don't. I've sold several religion related names in the past. Just this week I sold Hymn.info and Hymnal.info in a $1000+ package deal.

For religion I think the more generic the better. Those relating to religious holidays of the major religions are very good (Christmas, Easter, Hanukkah, etc) For examples of what I consider sellable names, I have praying.us, churchbells.info, schoolprayer.info, and baptist.cc.

In many cases, for religious names .org or .info may be as good or better than .com.

If it's generic maybe. you might get some stray traffic. However, you might also bee seen or depicted as a cybersquatter by the .org owner if you put up anything detrimental to their cause. For religion names, .com isn't always the best tld. However, if I had a religious .org or .info, I sure would want own and direct the .com to it.
