What comes under SSI

I am talking about server side includes,

if a host states that it doesn't allows server side includes what does he means by that.

I am sorry if i sound too much like a newbaby but i am not in a position to think much.

also does include() of php comes under ssi category.

SSI is some kind of a PHP precursor

And no, include() function from PHP is not related with SSI (actually NO PHP function is SSI related).
