What are some free Domain Tools / Whois.sc alternatives?

It's been awhile since I have looked into some new whois tools.

What are some FREE services that do not require an account to use?

I'd like to have a whois search that also shows the status of .com .net .org, like Domain Tools does:

I've always liked who.is, was quick to type until they changed their url paths to who.is/whois/domain but i still use it because it's fast and free, with no captcha and shows other major extensions registered. I'm sure there's better ones since I've been away but I've always used it, old habits...Be careful buying premiums through their link as name.com adds a percentage to the actual price. Wonder how many folks they've upcharged over the years.
