Over the last week I've been getting like 30 spam e-mails/day and when I check the e-mails, they all seem to be sending to a different e-mail than mine. I have a g-mail account and all of them have a different e-mail that they're trying to send to, but yet I'm receiving all of the e-mails. What is all of this about?

Its a political spammer. Something to do about 60 years ago and WW II.
They use BCC to add lots of emails.

bout time for Gmail to update their automatic spam filters? Or was the spam filter removed on purpose?

Anything that contains your mailbox on the “RCPT TO:” command via SMTP will end up in your mail box (unless it's somehow filtered). What you actually see in the message is what is contained in the “To:” header. This can be just about anything. With very few exceptions the entire header can be completely bogus.

Use this when posting details on forums, blogs, etc.

private2019 [AT] gmail [DOT] com
e_smtp [AT] gmail [DOT] com

It stops spam bots getting your email addy.
Good idea Thanks.

Interesting new update. I just receive a very similar spam message except the sender is someone I know. They have never e-mailed me themselves, but someone I know has e-mailed both of us a few weeks ago with the same e-mail. This is becoming very interesting.

If the Defs are up to date and a scan shows nothign then you should be clean. Has to be someone who added your email to their address book or maybe even visited a page with your email on it.

I get 30+ a day and all I do is report them as spam at spamcop so maybe the ISP will find the infected PC and help them clean up.
