Thats a hot name with lots of potential!

A big well done :)

I've noticed there are some awesome idn .tv names available:

I just got Ж.tv which I'm very happy with, not sure about development potential but pleased as punch anyway

Outside Dot Com there is still massive opportunity.

Even in dot Com away from Chinese and Japanese there are still a lot of good second line domain. When I mean second line I mean things that are not single word category killers, not three or four word nonsense domains. Even then I bought some recently regged Japanese from a flipper last week for small change. Single Word terms that pulled up Google Ads.

If you go away from the most speculated languages and you have some local knowledge, there is still plenty of stuff, but you need to be careful of grammatical forms which can be a complexed issue. For Chinese there are no such issues. There aren't even any plural forms.

Indeed, There is no plural form in Chinese. However, IDN domainer must be careful while acquiring chinese domains, since we usually have many alternative words with the same meaning. For example, 旅游,旅行,观光 all means "Travel", but search volume will be very different. :)

Yes, you would be correct on that but it can be a bit impenetrable for the non-Chinese Speaker.

I think we are argreed that you cannot simply rely on a single Translation source. Indeed even multiple translation sources are risky, as they are often the same source. You need to take an analytical approach. I think this advisable even for native Chinese.

Totally agreed. I actually read many your posts at dnlocal but haven't had a chance to talk to you.

BTW, I have few questions for you, IDN expert. :gl:
1. How do you think about IDN.tv ? ( if ignore grammar issue )
2. Do you have some ? If so, what language is it ?
3. I understand that we should not expect typing traffic from .TV. But do your IDN.tvs receive any traffic ?

Many thanks,

James

Sorry, I haven't got any dot TV. We are predominately dot Com, with about a third dot Net and a splattering of ccTLDs, mainly dot JP.

Dot TV may be good but are unlikely to benefit from IDN.IDN implementation.

I still believe the real opportunities at the moment are in the secondary market, but it is probably getting very late in the day now. Not much sells but then not much gets advertised for sale. It is a stand-off, but it is not one buyers are likely to gain from. All it has really done is to get owners to focus on quality and to hold on for grim death. Pain levels are and have been very high, but by and large every except perhaps Olney and MJ have had the bottle to hold out.
