few days ago I see somewhere, don't remember if on google site itself, google index 8.750.000.000 pages .

I cannot find data for Yahoo, but I think they must have some page indexed too over these of google.
and many others should be shared between many others search engines, and directory.
Unlucky I have not find a source for that and I am still looking around since quite long time, but I am ready to bet that the global number of pages should be over 10.000.000.000 pages.

On a reliable source such is the Jackob Nielsen website
I found that the count of websites at the 2005 it is on the order of 58.000.000

to me , it returns that the average site must have some 172,41 pages, each.

Supposing various big sites(1000-100000 ) have many many pages, in the order of several thousend,
this would be balanced by a much greater number of sites consisting in just 1 or few pages (just thinking at directories, landing pages, parked domains and personal sites, an oscillation of this value could be in the order of 10 - 20%

Is it that correct?

I think it's impossible to count and know every website and webpage on the internet when you get right down to it.

I think these data are reliable, Jackob Nielsen it is an authorithy in the internet , as well google is , I agree it is not possible to have a precise count since many sites and pages are uploaded and dropped every minute, but it is not the case to have a .000 precison factor with these numbers. even a 10 -20% margin error it is aceptable especially for my simple aritmetic logic.

So, is it the count right?

of course if anyone has data to add, about pages indexed especially ( the number of websites seems to be reasonably correct since Jackob Nieslen's staff is monitoring the net from the very very beginning of the Internet and he is swatching from the best possible position.

thanks to another post here on NP I have these other numers to add to this post and that will be helpful to better picture the whole panorama.

Google - 89.8 million
Yahoo! Search - 68 million
MSN Search - 49.7 million
Ask Jeeves - 43.7 million
AOL Search - 36.1 million

I have to refer to google only because it is the only for wich it is possible to derive a count.

it looks like they say that the average page viewed by each unique visitor it is in the order of 93 pages each.....
seem a little bit high isn't it?
