Mozilla Firefox is the best alternative out there when compared to Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. The advantage of Mozilla Firefox is that you can add different addons to pimp your favorite browser. Below I have chosen (from my own experience) the best Firefox addons which are definitely a must for everyone who considers his-self a webmaster
SEOQuake
I would rate this addon 10/10. SeoQuake is the one of the best SEO tool, featuring Google PageRank, number of pages indexed by Google, MSN, number of backlinks indexed by Yahoo, Alexa ranking, Domain age, whois and other SEO-related information. It can be integrated with google search results, showing at the bottom of each page the corresponding statistics and main rankings.
KGen
KGen stands for Keyword generator, and it analyzes the keyword frequency and placement in a give web page. It can show you which are the dominant keywords in a website you are visiting. Very handy and lightweight tool.
Flag Fox
Flagfox is a firefox extension that shows a flag icon indicating the current location of a website server. The flag will show on the adress or status bar ( you can choose the location and alignment ). This addon will not use top-level-domains like β.comβ or β.deβ to identify a servers location but will indeed make an ip query. If you click on the flag the geotool will open on another tab and will show you the location of the server.
Web Developer Toolbar
This is one of the most popular addons for webmasters. This toolbar includes all the needed tools that a designer would require to test the design and layout of a page. It has a set of usefull options, such as the ability to view the page with no immages, it can show the format outlines, outline tables, forms etc. It can also validate code using w3c services.
Greasemonkey
Greasymonkey is a script manager for Firefox which has extended capabilities. It uses small bits of JavaScript to customize the way a web page looks and functions. Having a huge database of free scripts that let you customize everything in theory, it is one of the best addons you can have on your browser.
FireFTP
FireFTP is a ftp client for Mozilla Firefox. It is easy to use, it has a user friendly interface and is integrated perfectly with your browser. It supports FTP, SFTP and other protocols. Using FireFTP your servers are just one tab away.
Alexa Sparky
Alexa also has an official add-on for Firefox. Alexa sparky, once installed it will be shown on the status bar of your browser and will give you information related to a websites Alexa rank, popularity and other trends. Its quite nice as it shows also a graph instead of just text based ranking.
Live HTTP Headers
Using this add-on you can view HTTP headers of a page while browsing. Useful for debugging site issues, such as problems related to server or other built-in website functions, such as login sessions etc.
FoxyProxy
Last but not least, FoxyProxy is an intuitive proxy switcher. Using FoxyProxy you can create your shortcuts for switching proxies instantly, there are animated icons to indicate the status of proxy usage, custom colored icons per proxy and a lot of other functionalities that make FoxyProxy unique in its type.
