General Info
A funded start up is looking for a LAMP Developer to fill an internship position. We are located in Porter Square in Cambridge right off the red line. We are a small team, each of us wearing many hats. You will be working with a hot new startup at a critical time in their development and will learn 1st-hand what's involved in building a full-fledged web application. You will work with and receive instruction from one of our partners who has extensive experience with web development in production environments.
Fields of Work
The internship will include various aspects of web development and administration including LAMP development, Linux Server Administration, code refactoring (for speed, efficiency, modularity, and sanity).
Requirements
• Proficiency in PHP 5, (My)SQL, OOP, HTML, CSS, AJAX (prototype).
• Familiarity with Linux required, SVN / code version control system, Apache configuration and MySQL Administration a plus.
• Willingness to adapt/learn new technologies and techniques in Web Development.
• Ability to make sense of other peoples' code.
• Good communication skills.
We will conduct training on all fields of work as necessary.
Location & Hours
The internship will be at our office in Porter Square with the possibility of remote work. As this is an unpaid internship, you will not be required to be at our office full time – once or twice a week is also acceptable, but must be scheduled with us. There may also be an option to work later on into the evening and on Saturdays.
Scope
The internship will total 200 hours of work. If needed, we can provide letters of recommendation after completion of your internship.
Compensation
This is an unpaid internship. However, at the end of the internship
we will also be giving out various gifts as a token of our
appreciation. Some the gifts we are planning are: an iPod, GPS
system, digital camera and a home theater system. The gifts may vary
and will be on a first come, first serve basis (we will purchase
these at the beginning of the internship and the first to finish the
200 hours will get first choice of the gifts, second to finish
chooses from what remains and so on).
