hi guys, not sure if this is the right place for this topic but it's kind of web design discussion rather than anything else. anyway, i was just wondering if you knew any other forums / websites that were good for dealing with paid requests

for example:

- the 'Web Development Wanted' section on here
- sitepoint.com
- elance.com

does anyone use any good sites / forums for either submitting work to earn cash or submitting requests to get other designers to carry out work for them for cash

any links or advice is appreciated, thanks in advance

:)

I've used getafreelancer.com a few times, and the quality is real hit-or-miss. I've found one person there to work with that is very professional, but others I've been quite disappointed with. I do SEO for a living, and when tooling around with the "seoists" there as a test I was quite dismayed. They don't seem to pay attention to what the project is about when they bid. So be careful.

I find it that most of them sites are people who are over seas who only need 5 or 10 dollars a week to live on so they bid really cheap to get the job, but there work really shows that they never went to school for any of it. Bad code, miss use of code, and most they are have lots of bugs in them.

So if your going there to get work done, find out were they are from, go as far as doing an IP trace on them, make sure there from somewhere they speak REAL english.

I'm sorry for anyone who isn't from USA here or even the UK, but unless you went to school to learn programming there is no way you know how to program right. Make sure you find a student.. Or someone who can prove they went to school.

Most places don't offer this India is a big place to stay away from.. NEVER ON YOUR LIFE do anything with them, they don't know a good peace of code if they handed it. I have never saw a peace of code from any one from India that I didn't spot a bug on or miss use of code, with out even trying.

So in saying all that rent from people who gone to school to learn there trade, make them prove it, rent from people who is not from India, (if they can't speak clean, clear, and good english) stay away from. (typing good english is something different), make them get on a voIP service like Team Speak or Ventillo, (if they want the job they will get on there)..

I hope the tips here helps.

Oh BTW just in case anyone HAS! to know, yes I did goto school for programming and I'm still in school just about to get my AS in IS in about 12 weeks.

I really really... really don't think it has much at all to do with schooling, you can 99.9% of the time look up just about anything taught in a school via the internet. A professional education doesn't mean diddily squat, I've met plenty of people who went to school and think they know everything only to know jack shiat. ;D

Don't tar everyone with the same brush there!

let me put it this way, lets just say for one sec.

we both know the same thing

you didn't goto school for the things you know I did

we both go on the same interview with almost the same resume,

one thing different about mine then your

I can put on there that I went to school..

I get the job and my point is proven.

You can say anything you would like about it makes..

You can make any judgment you would like about what I said, and the bottom line is, people who went and goto school for there training will out program, out code and produce cleaner, well typed, and more professional code any day any hour any second over someone who didn't.
