Apparently, Web.com is entering the domain aftermarket and auction space by purchasing the popular NameJet brand.

For me, web.com represents a brand which typically preys upon the non-savvy consumer from every level of their corporate existence. Typically, they would like to sell $40/yr .com registrations and offer a plethora of one-size fits all website services to non-technical users.

I can see the appeal of being able to offer premium names to their client base, but was interested how some of the more veteran Domainers viewed the acquisition.

It should change nothing Web.com has always been an owner of NameJet, now they are the only owner of NameJet.
equity78, re-read what you just posted. If you need any help, just let me know. If you were being sarcastic, I like you even more, but I don't get the sense that you were.

Have no idea what you are talking about, it seemed that some were making it like Web.com sucks and they are going to own NameJet now, my point was they always owned 50% so for those who don't like Web.com they were in the game.

The point is that there is a huge difference in being a 50% owner and being a 100% owner.

True but on the expiry side Web.com was bringing the better inventory to the table vs Tucows, the old time NetSol stuff has always been the best. Scott Pruitt and Jonathan will probably continue to run things so I don't expect much change. Now they might want to increase commission % or min bids, hopefully Web.com leaves all the pricing alone.

I think NetSol and web.com might be one of a few registrars that don’t have representative @ NamePros, correct?

look like They don’t listen and care about how domainers say and suggest. They don’t see pain. They don’t offer help. Year after year, things never change.

They build their business on people’s suffering. They don’t care, they laugh, they hate people spend less, they block ppl from joy and freedom. They dominate, they control, they hurt.

I would imagine that's true, years ago when having a discussion with someone at Verisign about something .tv related, I mentioned something about domainers would get upset, and the customer service representative replied we don't care what domainers think, this was about 10 years ago.

Those with successful auction on namejet may then be required to move it to Netsol instead of Enom.

Their usual rate is over $30 I believe

Even Enoms usual rate is about $40 from what i remember, but namejet sellers get a discount on transfer fees. Its still $10+tax though

Ive also noticed alot of the minimum starting bids beginning at $79 recently instead of $69

A shame. That web.com (Network Solution) with such a bad reputation (unsecure, unfriendly support):vomit::vomit::vomit::vomit: tries to take over name jet.
Godaddy will win and has a great support.
