Apparently, Web.com is entering the domain aftermarket and auction space by purchasing the popular NameJet brand.

For me, web.com represents a brand which typically preys upon the non-savvy consumer from every level of their corporate existence. Typically, they would like to sell $40/yr .com registrations and offer a plethora of one-size fits all website services to non-technical users.

I can see the appeal of being able to offer premium names to their client base, but was interested how some of the more veteran Domainers viewed the acquisition.

There are a more of these types of registrars around now than there were in past...going after the 'new' domainers and small time investors that don't know any better seems to be a trend (they must have attended the same one day seminar at an icanny event. :xf.smile:)

It seems some are changing their business model to do what you just describe. They may do well in the short term but I don't think they have a really bright future holding to this strategy.

Good points Boxio, my main concern would be what this means for pre-release, competition always favors the consumer.

It should change nothing Web.com has always been an owner of NameJet, now they are the only owner of NameJet.

Usually when a company spends big bucks to buy out their partner, they look to crank up the money making machine to get their investment back as soon as possible.

I don't trust :poop:Web.com:poop: since I heard that buckled to pressure to give away France.com to the French government, a domain that was hosting a legitimate multi-million dollar business and didn't even have the courtesy to inform the original owner.

I think NetSol and web.com might be one of a few registrars that donโ€™t have representative @ NamePros, correct?

look like They donโ€™t listen and care about how domainers say and suggest. They donโ€™t see pain. They donโ€™t offer help. Year after year, things never change.

They build their business on peopleโ€™s suffering. They donโ€™t care, they laugh, they hate people spend less, they block ppl from joy and freedom. They dominate, they control, they hurt.
