That sucks, I use godaddy, luckily nothing like that has happened to me.

This is why you should be careful picking a registrar. Also I would not have slept until I got the domain registered if it was that good.

I am curious what name was so good that a registrar stole it...

the first registrar might have reserved it for you.

go back to the first registrar and try to reg it.

What is the point of your thread if your not going to expose the registrar? are you just trolling?

dont ever buy domains over the phone dude do it on their server too much logs they aren't looking at them all the time.. on the phone you expose attention to the domain.

GoDaddy is chill, you can order a domain on the phone with them NP. I know because I've done this in the past. I wouldn't do it anywhere else, though.

I use NameCheap and they don't even have a phone, so that's kinda requiring me to buy online :)

If it was at network solutions, go back there. They hold them for you.....shady yes, but who's going to stop them? NOBODY!

Who was it, and whats the name.

I agree with some of the others. The registrar may have registered it for you even though you were unable to pay at the time. I'd go back to the original registrar and explain the situation to them, and ask if their registration was on your behalf.

Please provide the name.

If you check in 5 days you will see that the domain will become available again.

I won't suggest godaddy to do your research on. They give your searches as suggestions to others searching for similar keywords.
So be careful.

That's why i first use some random or weird entries for domain names when researching if a Godaddy promo code is still working. Once i see that the promo code is still valid, i delete the test domains from my basket, then add the real domains i wanted to register.

Sometimes it's also amusing that when i type some randomly weird name as a test domain, the search will return that the domain is already taken (meaning, someone else really bought that domain). lol.

By the way, Merry Christmas to all.

That is exactly what I do when testing the validity of any GD Code before posting and/or usage. I will use one of my test names first. I typically use the same name or series of names for that purpose. However, I found it interesting that such a random and obscure name I made up, with zero stats on all levels, just recently came up registered, after I had been using it for several months. Lucky for me it wasn't a name with any viability.

I don't mind with regard to that particular name, though my concern is with the many names I research that come up available, yet when I go to register them days or sometimes hours later, too late! They are now gone. I wondered if somehow my searches were broadcast, but really I just figured with so many domainers around the world odds are that the name would soon be Regged by someone.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. Have a Safe and Happy Holiday!

-Regards

Everyone has been providing good advice, but in your case it looks like you started the registration process at oneregistrar, but could not complete it. Well, that may be why it does not seem to be available at other sites. :) I would contact the registrar where you started to register it and see what the problem is, or just wait a few days until they release the domain again.

Maybe, but he didn't just check the whois, he tried to REGISTER the domain and had a problem doing so.

The registrar may must be waiting to see if he will complete the registration at this point...
