I got a random message on NP from a member asking me to broker a domain, the domain contains the term "exchange server" and it would violate Microsofts trademark.

I explain to this guy that this is a trademark and he replies in so many words that its not a problem and I shouldn't worry, after all someone cannot trademark the world "life". I have no clue what he means or doesn't means HOWEVER, because of his arrogance and the potential of a new domainer falling for his offer, I felt the need to warn others.

If a mod wants ill posts the persons info, however at this point what I felt is needed is to just put everyone on alert that the domain he is pushing is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Microsoft is aggressive with its lawsuit against domainers, and I sure hope people don''t try to play games with them or any trademark holder.

I remember this domain, it's in the Godaddy auction a few weeks ago.

i think that there should be a trademark checking thread where domains can be checked by those who know how to check trademarks for new domainers to make sure the domain names they purchase can be sold and do not infringe trademarks

I think your thinking of "exchange hosting" and I don't see any trademark infringements on it , but I could surely be wrong. I only checked trademarkia. Now for "exchange server" there is trademark concerns there for sure.

Trademarks are normally only allowed for specific purposes. You can still use the domain so long as you don't infringe on their trademark.
