How to Develop a Mobi Site.

Hello

As all of us know that .mobi is not the same as other names.

Can some one help me how to develop the site or any software to develop site.

Thanks

I'm getting the following error code when I click on a page link at the NewsOnMobile.mobi site:

"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

Good luck with developing your sites.

.mobi is unnecessary, and this is why:

4x4mobile.com explains it.

One: If we believe that a domain should be as short as possible, then the counting should go over SLD+TLD= total characters.
Two: Most mobile browsers seem to work fine with W3 HTML 4.01. Why then bother with WAP etc.?
Three: If a given phone does not display html properly, then the Opera Mobile browser is usually a solution.
Four: Internet-capable cell phones are now so cheap that it should not be option to buy one that cannot access html webs.

We try to have .com + .net + .org + .tv extensions for our domains, but we will never invest in .mobi that breaks down the principles of W3 and efficiency if we can do it short, simple and cheap with html.

Maybe, .mobi is just another invention to give registrars, appraisers and resellers some business.
We don't mind about that.
This message is for who may be interested.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to remove this error that the mobi validator gives on dev.mobi

Your page does not use XHTML Mobile Profile
XHTML-MP should be used as the default markup for your pages. Use of XHTML-MP ensures that your pages will work on the widest variety of mobile devices as well as on desktop browsers. The following graph shows how XHTML-MP is supported by the overwhelming majority of mobile browsers.
PASS near line 0, col 0
Doctype correctly specified as:
-//WAPFORUM//DTD XHTML Mobile 1.0//EN
FAIL near line 0, col 0
Your page does not validate against -//WAPFORUM//DTD XHTML Mobile 1.0//EN

I see a lot of sites fail on it but I would like to know how to fix it.

see my sig for a starter template (I sold www.muf.mobi so not sure how long the template will be on that address but for now it is still pointed to my servers.)

you can then modify the template 1 step at a time till you get what you want.

Does the same thing..trying to figure out what is going on. :'(

Why would this happen ?. Just taking your code straight and it fails.No matter what I do my site fails on this. How should I be saving your code ?. Something I am doing wrong ?

Are 3gp and mp4 the only video formats for cellphones? I wanted to ask at dev.mobi but that place is abandoned and spam-packed!

3GP, 3G2 (3gpp) and MPEG4 (.mp4) are the most typical but it would depend on the phone / pda. Some are able to play mpeg1 / AVI/MP4 / WMV and a lot more. Thankfully even adobe's flash is coming to mobile http://www.beet.tv/2007/02/adobes_flash_vi.html

The report fails even against this

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//WAPFORUM//DTD XHTML Mobile 1.0//EN" "http://www.wapforum.org/DTD/xhtml-mobile10.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<html>
<BODY>
test
</BODY>
</HTML>

Can any tell me what the problem is ? Driving me nuts.

You have two opening <html> tags and you have tags in capital letters. There are also no head and title tags.

Why so complicated? Paradigm shift -> http://W2.ms

I have a Cpanel server, so all my domains are accessible both with and without "www". There is no .mobi necesary for that. Domains for mobiles are simple W3 validated html 4.01.
My email is redirected to my vodafone account, so I read it all over the world.
Also, if domainers think that shorter is better, then two-character TLD's are worth much more than three and four character extensions.
There is a paradigm shift taking place: LL.mobi and LL.info may be just as handy to remember and to type in as LL.ms and LLLL.ms. Since there are more dictionary words under LLLL than under LL, mobi will not last long. IMHO the current rush for short CC domains is allready taking place.
I hope for all .mobi investors that I'm wrong. As for me, I stepped in the .ms business. Yes: W2.ms.

^^ What does that have to do with anything being discussed in this thread?

Elsewhere, in this thread:
"In working with the MOBI emulator, it appears that none of the popular email programs work properly. Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo mail. Gmail won't even successfully log you in. Hotmail and Yahoo Mail will let you view your inbox. But when composing an email, you can enter an email address and subject, but are not allowed to enter text in the body of the message (most important).
Has anyone else noticed this? If you'd like to try them out ..."

For the rest, I see lots of trouble about programming.
Why make it so complicated when simple W3 html works fine on all phones?

Or, is it only allowed to prize .mobi into heaven?

I'm no expert but one of my sites scores 4 out of 5 and my coding is different at the top:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>

Another of my sites developed using mobisitegalore.com and scores 5 out of 5 has this coding at the top:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>

You have:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

Try that. Also I had a problem with my one site not being viewable (I saved as a .html file instead of .xhtml file) and I contacted support at mobisitegalore.com and this was their reply (I see you have some .html pages in your index)
----------------------
Issue: Your website is serving a HTML page (not generated by mobiSiteGalore) when user tries just the domain name. It is serving mobiSiteGalore generated pages only when the domain name is followed by index.xhtml (Example: sitename.mobi/index.xhtml). Additionally, the site is not browsable with IE browser.

Solution: Please add the below directives to your Apache httpd.conf or .htaccess file and remove the HTML pages not suitable for Mobile devices. If you are not sure how to do this, please get in touch with your web host.

AddType text/html .xhtml
DirectoryIndex index.xhtml

For clarifications or further details, please visit http://forums.mobisitegalore.com/.
---------------------
Hope this helps.

The code as it is now is fine. Save it as a .htm file and see if you validate.

Still fails on Your page does not use XHTML Mobile Profile. The other failures and warnings can be sorted but.

I've emailed mobi tld directly on this now to see if they can tell me why it fails.

EDIT Well I tried to email them but their contact email on teh page for [email protected] bounces, class :(

EDIT 2 : :) Got it working. The first failure was linked to the invalid markup....now got my template for a 5/5 at last. Thanks for the replies....

Hey,
Why no other recent links in here? Perhaps we should start putting Magazine Articles and Press Release links in here to keep all late breaking info in one place. Sure would beat trying to scrounge through all of these posts looking for the latest news. We have this as a sticky so lets use it. What do you think?

Voice Search = AWESOME !!!
