PLEASE VOTE.

My prediction -- and this is a long shot -- "Little Caesar's".

if it was a company, why did they waste such a pretty good chance for advertisement for free?

They first need to complete the transaction before they can stake a claim to the domain. I honestly don't think they have missed any free advertising, because as soon as the buyer is known the media will talk about the sale again. If they make themselves known and the transaction falls through it could be highly embarrassing for them.

Looks like a private investor has gained the grand domain and may resell it in the near future??

I would think a transaction of this size might take a bit longer to complete than your average sale. Just because there's no activity yet I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's not going to happen.

Am I the only one surprised at the number of people who think the buyer is a domainer?

I voted domainer.

Good question.

I'm going with Papa Johns. They seem to be aggressively expanding and they already do online ordering. It would also complement their stock symbol (PZZA).

Little Caesar's is a definite long shot. Too low budget and a lack of delivery service in most areas. I do like their $5 pizzas though. Under-rated!

Another possible buyer for pizza.com is PMQ.com. They have several online sites for their pizza industry magazine and tradeshows.

I going with RJ on this one. I hear that Papa Johns is about to expand it's Canadian business by opening 57 additional Papa John's restaurants throughout Canada.

I say pizzahut. Simple go do a search for "Pizza" on google. What comes up first? Pizzahut. Now wouldn't Pizzahut want to shorten up their domain and make it simple Pizza. Also, the second on the list is papa johns and then comes dominos.

47% of people think it's a domainer. That surprises me.

It's a whole lot of money to spend... thinking about it from a reselling standpoint.

Then again, we don't know how much traffic or revenue the name has, do we?

Domainer OR private investor... not necessarily a domainer looking to flip it later (unlikely), but it could be a private group wanting to start a company to centralize the pizza business like hotels.com has done for the lodging industry.

Possible, but I'm still sticking with Papa John's.

I just thought about this while i was working. That price is pretty low compared to the big companies that would be interested in the domain name. Honestly at that price it was a steal. Look at how big the pizza biz is and look at the companies involved. Pizzahut, dominos, little ceasars, papa johns, ect. those are some big names to be throwing around. So in my opinion i still say PizzaHut but would not be surprised to see this one bought by a domainer or private investor. Imagine the potential in the name if proposed to the companies in the right manner. I would not be surprised to see this one go for 3 or even 4 million in a year or 2. I also wouldn't give up on the idea of what RJ said about the investors wanting to centralize the pizza biz.

Good point, I voted Domino's since there was a coupon for Domino's on the site when I visited pizza.com..

If I was the owner, I would start my own brand, Pizza.com. It could be a frozen pizza company or something like that.

I seriously doubt that the Whois would change within a week. 2.6 million dollars is a huge sum & I'm not at all surprised that it didn't change hands yet.
Now if it didn't change hands within the next month then I might say, there's a slight possibility the deal fell through but no deal gets done that quick when the stakes are that high, at least not with me.

Normally names are in escrow after the sale.
