Should showcase threads be limited to just listing names without discussion ?

There has been some discussion from members with opposing points of view about showcase threads. Some believe it should be showcase the names for the topic, example showcase vr names. These members do not want to read posts that go on and on about the underlying topic and the reasons why a member registered what they registered.

Others believe there should be discussion as well. Namepros has no official position, we have let people do what the thread starter asked, some say showcase and others discuss and showcase.

So vote

Seems to over complicate things. I personally like seeing domains and discussion in one thread. It would be boring and an inconvenience for me to look at 2 threads for a niche. If OP is so keen to have domains only, then they should put in bold red letters at the top "NO DISCUSSION, DOMAINS ONLY". I understand the people would like to think that writing "showcase" in the topic title will work, but in reality people are not going to follow that rule (probably unknowingly). I think if u separate them will be a huge workload for moderates and less attractive to the most people.

Long ago, this happen in a thread I was in and *for me* the issue is the space it takes up to stick a lengthy discussion post amongst the shorter showcase posts. The simplest solution that makes everyone happy is to allow discussion IF WRAPPED IN A SPOILER TAG. It can have a sentence above like a Headline.

That way people who want the discussion can click to expand and read the details, and people who are not interested can easily skim past the post without massive scrolling.

Problem solved : grin :

I greatly prefer SPOILER tags to CONTAINER tags because it takes up much less space
usernamex is known for being a detail oriented poster. Sometimes there is a valid reason, because it is very important to know the details if it can save you time money and hassle. But usernamex knows that not everyone can tolerate the RTFM mentality so I tend to censor myself. But not when it comes to sharing a favorite clip from SpongeBob

Sandy: SpongeBob, sooner or later you're going to have to go outside!

SpongeBob: Listen, I already told you that I am not leaving my house again.

Patrick: Never ever?

SpongeBob: Never ever ever!

Patrick: Never never ever ever for never ever?!

SpongeBob: Never ever never never ever ever never!!

Patrick: Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever?! (SpongeBob sighs)

SpongeBob and Patrick: Never ever never never ever never ever never.....

SpongeBob: D'alright Patrick, that is enough!!! Chip, will you escort these two to the door? (throws Chip to the door)

Patrick: Thank you, Chip. (outside) I guess I'll have to find a new best friend. Hey, Squidward!

Squidward: No!

Patrick: Okay.

Sandy: Don't worry, Patrick. We'll get SpongeBob to come outside, and then he'll see there's nothing to be afraid of.

Patrick: And that's when I punch him, right? (Sandy gives a serious look)

Then there'd be the potential problem of dupe content.

One would be "Showcase Your VR Domains" which would just be VRxxx.com in a single post with maybe how much you paid, etc. while the other would be "Discuss VR Domains" which would go into more detail on VRxxx.com.

I think "Showcase and Discuss Your VR" domains works fine. But, I don't visit showcase threads anyway, so my vote shouldn't count.

Just my 2 cents.
