Hello everyone,

a video website is going to be built but i am still wondering which domain to choose.

XXXvideo.com or XXXvideos.com which one of them is more popular or more acceptable ?

I would definitely go with the plural if I could only have one but you should try to get both if you are developing.

I ran into the same question with my own domains newvideo.us and newvideos.us. From everything I've learned about adwords advertisers, they prefer the singular term because studies have shown that somebody looking for the singular is more likely to buy while a plural search signifies more browsing activity.

Who knows if it is true but I think "new videos" sounds more natural than "new video".

Entirely depends on circumstance, if I am searching for porn and I go to Google I don't really want to be presented with hundreds of videos in the same category...I just want a porn video.

Also the usages are different, "video" is to manually film something yourself so would be good for a camcorder for youtube style site and "videos" would be a sales site or the former too...

Your dilemma is not that easy to sort out since it is not just a simple case of wondering whether or not you should use a plural.

It depends on what goes in place of the XXX in your examples.

TopVideo would work best for a seller of video equipment.

TopVideos would be for a list of the top videos to watch.

If it's more descriptive in nature, something like FunnyCatVideos is always better than FunnyCatVideo.
