Just read that the company hired to evaluate the renewal of the .net registry has recommended that Verisign be awarded the contract for an other 6 years.

It's not set in stone yet, but ICANN would probably be asking for trouble if they didn't accept the recommendation of the third party evaluator given the past squabbles between Verisign and ICANN.
