The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled that "computer-geek-turned-entrepreneur" Gary Kremen can hold VeriSign Inc.'s Network Solutions unit liable for handing the sex.com Web address over to a "con man."

This will effect more than just the sex.com case.

If registrars are held responsible for fraudulent transfer activities, they may make it more difficult for customers to transfer domains to new owners.

Could this be the end of the "free push"?
