.vc - Not the "Official .vc hype thread" - Just observations

So I've long been a lukewarm supporter of .vc and its potential application for Venture Capital, and I am happy to highlight some recent .vc "progress" of sorts.

From: http://wbjournal.com/j/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3110&Itemid=139

Traditional networking - trekking to an endless string of events after long days at the office, making small talk and pressing lots of flesh - can be time consuming and doesn't always fit in the busy venture capitalist's schedule.

These days, the region's venture capitalists are finding there are easier ways to build relationships: online.

The New England Venture Network, a group founded in 1999 for young venture capitalists in New England, has launched VentureNetwork.vc, the first social networking site exclusively for the venture capital and private equity communities. (And, yes, that ".vc" domain really works.)

I do, however, take the bad with the good:
http://www.google.com/search?num=50...:en-US:official&hs=VlQ&q=site:.vc&btnG=Search

Google results for sites in the .vc namespace are limited, mostly parked, and mostly non-English, despite a sizable chunk of parked domains with the same sort of thought in mind regarding regional venture capital "plays."

It did, however, lead me to a rather complex network of parked pages:
http://www.seedcapital.vc/

They are well done, although I am not sure if that parking arrangement is unique to the .vc topic, or universal to that registrant; it is interesting, either way.

More .vc info:

Keeping my eye on another ccTLD that will most likely come back and bite me in the keester,

-Allan :gl:

VC could be also Virtual Country ( f.e. I have Iran.vc, Iraq.vc)

or Virtual Community (f.e. I have FM.vc, MTV.vc)

It was easy when I did it at iDotz.net previously same procedure as pushing any other domain with them.
You can transfer between registrars too (although I've not done this so can't vouch for its ease).

I only have one .vc domain left- credit.vc I know I should get around to developing but it's so far down the list (so it's one of those many parked pages Allan mentioned).

Yes very. I was the former owner of computer.vc regged at Idotz. Very easy push.

Again, not a "hype" thread as I think all but the best names are not ripe for offers at this point.

That being said, good names always float to the top, and those in the industry are on the "early adopter" side of things more often than not, and are willing to take a risk on a possible big payday themselves; that fits the domainer model well, no? :)

Best of luck on all of your .vc's, but a quick search on the board shows what the appraisals have been, and the rather low quantity of .vc's sold. (Mark's (Adoptable) Music.vc notwithstanding ;) ).

Allan I thought I would let you know. I think it was you who owned NC.vc? Or something like that. You inspired me to reg computer.vc :)

Dude????!!! your pic in this forum says seo??? Dude, man Dude! .VC is a little island domain extension in the Carribean, how in on earth is NewYork.vc and Attorney.vc going to be of any use at all for American SEO, every New York related .com or Attorney related.com is going to sit on top of the your .vc domain in google.com yahoo.com whatever. Yes thats right in American search engines your .vc domains are going to be absolutely buried by thousands of .coms

Seriously what is the point of having a .vc .in .tv or other extension if you are not going to seo a website for that particular country or Islands search engine

all those extensions a very 'novel' to be traded amongst domainers, but for use in the real world? You can't be serious, maybe .in because of the large population, but how much of india can afford to buy stuff on the internet???

That is an incorrect statement. If done correctly you can get a .vc above a bad .com. If done correctly those names can show up first or second page for the keyword. I did that with computer.vc So what you are saying is wrong.

defensive??? All I said was your site was down???

I like to see facts not talk is all, this is a forum (forums are for talk) so facts are not mandatory although you do find them on forums regularly, maybe I am being selfish, but I would like to see facts if possible, Im a facts person : )

"Facts, you just can't get enough of them : )"

I know serps know that your nameservers are based in the US even if you are using a foreign extension, but I would truly like to see an international extension being used for American seo with success

I have savings.vg, art.mu, law.gp
