I'm doing to some research to properly value my site and I came across this...

"One common yard stick is your domain name is valued at $10 to $30 per hit per day. If 1,000 people land on your front page each day, your domain could be worth $10,000 to $30,000. Another optimistic way of looking at domain values is each unique visitor you get over the course of a month is worth $250. If the visitor clicks to a second page on your site, her presence is worth $500. By this measure, a site getting only 10 hits per day could go for $15,000."

It comes from... http://www.ezinearticles.com/?How-To-Sell-Websites-Fast-!&id=3009

What do y'all think??

Thanks!

I think that value is way overpriced and wont work honestly. It was a good attempt, however. There are tons of sites out there getting tons of visits but no sales. Sites prices are mostly valued at what kind of money they bring in, domain value, valid traffic (with live stats for several months daily constant), and overall potential for the buyer.

There are other aspects of course including how complicated the programming is on the site. You have to be careful with this though.
One mans theory on "Complicated" can be another mans theory of "Easy"
programming. The high costs of programming can put you in the hole when you try to sell.

Sites have different values of importance when it comes to certain buyers.
Traffic is not the big factor, however.

In my opinion a general 'rule' for the value of a site is impossible to make. A site 1000 visits a day can be worth more than a 5000 visits a day site if the first one has a more spesific theme, because that wolud mean more targeted ads, and therefor most likely more sales. And of course the quality of traffic would be much better.

Thanks for responding!

Ya know, I kinda thought the same thing myself!! But... since I'm new to this domain name, traffic game I figured... "Hey, stranger things have happened!!"

Thanks again.

Anyone else with a comment??
