Hello,

I currently run a 'large' free file hosting site. It's two months old, getting around 90,000+ impressions a day and 10,000+ unique visitors a day. The website is currently turning over around $120-$150/day. It has over 52,000 registered users.

Out of curiosity (excluding domain), how much would you say the website is worth? (Estimation).

Thanks.

Hi, out of interest.. Why so low? Low - mid $xxxx is pretty much one months revenue?

Unless things have changed since I last sold my websites, when appraising most websites, you use the age old formula:
revenue per month x 12 months = basic value of the website.

Your making about $4500 a month x 12 months = $54,000.

This is just rough value however, in most scenarios it is sold for much less.

Yeah, that sounds more realistic anyway.. Thanks for everyone that responded.. :)

most sale of dev'd site is about 6mos of revenue but this is once revenue spabilizes. since you are growing so fast 12 mo - 24 mo of revenue would not be out of the question

File hosting sites are usually very dangerous because you can get sued for copyright violations and in many cases you'll be hosting copyrighted content (pictures, videos, applications, etc).

These types of sites grown extremely fast (they literally explode) but tend to crash fast too because of exploding bandwidth costs and legal problems.

$xxxx. Anything above that would be too risky for the type of site.

Best of luck in the development and growth.

I agree with alot of the post. I would say its worth maybe 4-6 months. Until you can sustain the site for a longer time and it shows stable income as your currently getting than you can start doing more months. Real risky investment for the buyer.

Considering the revenue, I'd appraise it at low $xx,xxx. (6-10 months of revenue)

That sounds great, congratulations on making such a successfull site :)
I think that you could easily get mid $x,xxx for this site, maybe more, if you were lucky.

You can definitely get low-mid $xxxx with the stats you show, if the layout and interface is nice and clean, then surely high- X,xxx

Not too many people would be interested if you didn't include the domain in the sale.

Age doesn't really have much to do with creating successfull sites. Most teenagers will probably have more free time to spend maintaining websites than most adults, who will probably have a job or family to take care of as well.

I wasn't saying that. I was just impressed that a teenager was able to put the time and effort into a successful site that has potential to bring in thousands of dollars.

Personally, I started my (gaming) website when I was 15 also. 2 years on (I'm now 17 if you can't do the math ;p), it's still going and receiving around 2 million hits a month, several thousand hits a day (40,000-90,000), and cash to go alongside that. My post was never to say it was impossible, I was just highly impressed :)

The domain would be included in the sale, I just don't want to post it in this forum for privacy's sake. Wouldn't want users finding out I was asking for a valuation / considering selling up. :)
