Using Phpbb2 as a website?

Hey Guys and Gals, Have a few questions.

We are re-designing our websites and we have been using mambo CMS, but our e-mail system kept on being hacked so Looking for another site system

Option 1 is a HTML site with our products and services. Problem is we have a lot of content and can take a while to post once template is set. But most likely secure

Option 2 is using phpbb2 forum as a website. We where thinking this would be an easier way to add our content and services and also have a community aspect to the site as well.

Which option would u suggest?

How safe is phpbb2?

I dont fully know what your doing, But if your using PHPBB2 and you know how to configure it then go for it. If an Email system is all you want then id create a secure script to send emails.

PHPBB2 is safe if configured correctly, although its not TOTALLY safe from hackers.

I am looking for an easy way to add my content about my services and products. And a easy community site as well.

I have been using mambo CMS for some time, but that keeps getting hacked and they are hijacking my E-mail system from the mambo script.


So I was thinking of using phpbb,

If it was me id go for PHPBB2, if your using a community style system. You can configure PHPB2 so its a multi functional website, if you know how.

I recommend it.

phpbb had a few problems with hackers, so they created a new forum with a better code, so it can't be hacked as easilly.

Also, due to the great tutorials, and php coding, you can create other "members-only" sites on your whole web site. This means you can easilly extend your site.

I would also going with phpbb but I would say that in the long run your website would benefit from getting vbulletin and then putting up a portal integrated into it.

vbulletin is worse than phpbb :imho:

I don't know why, but I just don't like vbulletin. I have never tried it, because they make me pay for it, but I don't like it at all! :lol:

I reccomend IPB or Vbulletin since they cost more they are less likely to get hacked(according to some guy in an old post)

cost has nothing to do with it. The most expensive china plates are more delecate than cheap plates from Tesco - .

phpbb has "anti-hack" stuff since people complained about hackers.

for a large community system i would like to recommend you to use vBulletine because it is more safe than phpbb. Phpbb can hacked by pro. hacker untill you install tons of security mods & vb its built security is enought for it.

Try CPGNUKE...it is a CMS program buh its better..

I personally recomment vb or ipb2 since both of them have accredited support since they are paid scripts, plus installation support is also provided
