Using number... is it good or bad?

:hi: everyone I'm newbie in this domain subject and wanna ask 'bout using number in domain name like come2eat.com or others like that. Is it bad or is it good? and is domain got impact of search engine stuff like seo more easy if we use good domain name?

come2eat can cause confusion on common users, u have to say everytime that is a number and not a word and furthermore 2 isn't generally associated with "too" ( atleast to me ) . In some case instead numbers could be very valuable in domains, for example 123.com is very easy to remember.

There are some developed sites that use numbers for words, but I don't think I'd so so unless I also had the spelled out version. If I used come2eat, I would also want to have ComeToEat parked on top of it.

Numbers in a domain with a purpose can be good. 1-800 and 24-7 domains come to mind, and anyone would know that 4x4.tld would be valuable for a car site. Pure number domains have value, but unless they mean something are hard to remember. 2020.com would be a super name for an optometrist, and 1250.com might be a good domain for a building at 1250 something street.

I'm against this sort of abuse of language and purposely make a point of not doing business with companies with names/websites of this style (e.g. phones4u.co.uk).

I'd say not to bother, as AD above has said you'd really need the spelled out version too or you'll probably miss out on traffic...

There are a few legit, easily brandable uses, like 2checkout.com, but those are far and few between,

i would definetly buy both versions such as come2eat.com and cometoeat.com to reduce confusion, and to be sure i am not loosing my traffic because of that. nullmind is right. numbers are good when it is easy to remember them.

I believe some numbers will work very well in domains names. For instance H2 is used for hydrogen and as the hydrogen economy developes this name will be very popular in my opinion. It is commonly used by news agencies and others when referring to hydrogen and since it is so much shorter than hydrogen I think it will be used extensively in hydrogen domains names.

Of course it may take a few years before hydrogen is a popular energy source.
