Hi there,

Hope to get some kind of help here as I am stuffed:

The very first domain I ever registered was a .us and as I was not knowing anything about domains by that time ( who could say I know more nowadays??? ) I did register that domain with yahoo.

Okay, so as the 2 years I had to register this first of all are to be over next year I decided to transfer the domain away from yahoo (35$ per year is terrible! ). As I never transfered a .us and all I knew is that you need a registration key??? I contacted yahoo to provide me with it.
Answer I got was one of those typical "this is what you have to do"...stating I would have to close my account with yahoo and just request the transfer away from yahoo.

Weird, I thought but STUPID ME did exactly what they said.
Closed account and initiated the transfer. HAHAHAHAHAHA :lala:

No need to say that this transfer never took place as I could not provide this stupid key. So I contacted yahoo...
"Sorry, your account is closed, we can´t help you."
Contacted Melbourne IT for help...
"Please refer to yahoo...here is the link..."

So now I can´t manage this domain as account with yahoo is closed nor transfer it nor do ANYTHING.

ANY HELPING IDEAS???????????? PLEASE!

Well, that sounds a good idea, anyhow, this is more than annoying...giving wrong information and no help.

Still I ask myself, is there any other way to get access to this registration key?

Try calling them--look for a whois phone number from the registrar. Fax them a copy of your email with them detailing you in the steps to proceed in transferring the name. I hope you didn't delete any of the emails either sent or received. Just get on the horn and explain the situation and see what happens.

The only way you will be able to transfer the name is if you get ahold of them to give you the transfer auth names. That's how it works with .info and .us names now.

Is there anyway you can re-open your account with them? Sorry to hear about your awful prediciment.

In this case I would suggest if it comes to nothing just pray noone is watching it and then reregister it with the other registrar Good Luck.

Thanks for that information -RJ- and obviously to all others here for the support.
I was/am not aware of the changed rules for transferring .us names...will definitely try this.
