.us .US Reserved List Drops?

Happy New Year everyone!

I thought I remembered reading on Namepros that recently alot of the top names on the .US Reserved list were "dropped" from it and became available to reg.
Now I'm looking for information on it and can't find anything anywhere on any forums.It seems to be true because I was looking around and regged "nutmegstate.us",Connecticut's state nickname.Not nearly as good as snagging a state name,but hey.
According to the Neulevel list,all of the state nicknames (Beaverstate,empirestate,peachstate,gemstate,etc) are or were all reserved.
Anyone know anything about why they dropped them,why only SOME dropped,and why so few people knew about it?

States, cities, and counties had until sometime last year (January 04, maybe?) to claim the reserved names. After that point they would be free game. I picked up some county and city names in my state last year that had been released. A few are still available if you seach hard enough.

I was able to get state and city .info's I wanted which I think were more appropriate for my needs.

May I ask which ones you got and when; i.e. in one of the landrushes or after-market?
