URL forwarding via DNS service instead your domain registrar

A few days ago I transferred many domains from one one registrar to another because they had a good deal. So I saved some money on renewal fees but I ended up spending a lot of time re entering URL forwarding settings.

When you transfer a domain to another registrar, the nameserver settings are carried over but the URL forwarding settings aren't.

If there was a fee external DNS management service, this would solve the problem.

I know there are lots of services for this. However, I'm looking for services specifically that you have used for the same purpose (managing URL forwardings for lots of domains). I checked a few sites. They are over complicated. I spend 10 minutes on zoneedit.com and still couldn't figure out if URL forwarding is free and if I can add unlimited domains and if all I need to do is to set their nameservers. Everything is too over complicated.

You might try MyDomain.com's free service.

Thanks stub.

I have just tried out mydomain.com. It works.
1. After you login to your mydomain.com account on the left side click "Manage Service Domains".
2. Add the domains (they can be registered elsewhere)
3. Now you need to buy URL for zero USD and go through checkout (which is stupid).
4. Remember to set your nameservers to ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com. mydomain suggests 4 nameservers but it works with only two as well.

I might try other alternatives as I'm not happy with the checkout process at mydomain.

I found this thread about the same topic.

Maybe those other services are easier to use.

I have a VPS account and I asked my host how I can use do this myself and they haven't got a clue.

Does anybody know any easy to use free dns management site?

I have used mydomain.com and I don't like them because you need to go through a checkout to pay zero usd.

I have also used afraid.org and they have extremely annoying menus. For example you need to select between "public" and "private" however before you do this you need to study what these mean. In their FAQ it says this is very important and you need to know about that. However the explanations are extremely poor and annoying. All I want to do is to use the bloody URL forwarding. I don't understand anything. All I want is to use URL forwarding. What is shared queue? Why would I allow others to create subdomains on my domain? Why is it asking me stupid questions?
http://freedns.afraid.org/faq/
---------------------------------
1). Public - If you add your domain as public, this shared queue will not be used at all, others will be permitted to attach to subdomains off your domain without involving your approval.
---------------------------------
2). Private - If you add your domain as private, then you will be able to screen your domains of which you decide to allow and deny. While domains are in the shared queue pending acceptance or not, they WILL function on the global Internet. It is assumed that you will support this concept, and approve the majority, and only deny those that you deem offensive or slanderous.
---------------------------------

Is there no easy to use DNS management site?

I have ended up at the registrar netregistry.com.au after a snapnames backorder. They don't have URL forwarding. Even nameserver changes were very difficult. It took me a few minutes to figure out that I need to unlock the domain to change nameservers. What a stupid registrar. I'm already very annoyed with netregistry.com.au. Can somebody please show me a free dns manager so I can URL forward to the sedo page?
