The auction forum rules were updated in February to provide a safe, and fair domain auction system for both buyers and sellers.

Many of the rules are being consistantly ingored despite the contract that you agree to prior to posting an auction.

The 2 most important rules being violated are :

1. Do not use a reserve price. This is a forum, and there is no way to automate a reserve system, therefore, setting a reserve price is not allowed. If you need to have a reserve on your auction... start the bidding at your reserve price. This will be enforced to make the auctions fair for everyone.

and

3. Do not post multi-forum auctions. If you would like to utilize NamePros to hold a domain name auction, please make sure the auction is exclusive to NamePros for the duration of the auction. Please feel free to make use of the "fixed price" and "make offers" forum for multi-forum sales.

Multi-forum auctions will be closed if the seller does not comply with this rule.

and also (from the "general sales forum rules)

NEW RULE (effective April 1, 2006) - Sales Thread Limit - There is a limit of one new thread per member, per marketplace forum, per day. You may have two active threads per marketplace forum at any given time.

From this point on, violation of rule number 3 will result in having your auction deleted. You will be allowed to repost your auction as long as it complies with the auction rules.

If you have questions, comments, or need help with setting up your auction, you can review the auction forum rules below in my sig, or contact a member of the staff for help.

Thank you very much-
Jennifer

Great thread, and yes I did notice some "auctions" have been not abiding by the rules! Also noticed that you were on the "ball" and posted in the thread! Good work!

I have also seen some auctions which don't follow the rules and I have also seen poor ManicGirl trying to sort a lot out.

Seeing as such a number were flaunting the rules, I think deletion is the only appropriate step to take. :|

Rep'd!!

Thanks ManicGirl. Really nice to see auction rules, reserve price and details of the domain all spelled out clearly - makes me more likely to bid.

Thanks for the quick action. Additional request for the auction rule. I've thought that could never happen because NP members know about it but happened. Prevent posting in someone else auction to try selling. Im not sure if the rule has already applied or mentioned. Please consider the new rule if you feel needed. Thanks.

Hi kleszcz -

That is most certainly covered by the "general" marketplace rules - http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-fixed-price-announcements.html

Sales crashing is not permitted, and is dealt with promptly when brought to the attention of the staff... unfortunatley there is no way to prevent crashing, so as soon as you find a violation, simply report the thread and it will be dealt with.

Hope that helps -
Jennifer

:guilty: <<< Guilty

I myself have been so politely reminded by Manic to comply. I wonder if it's just a subconscious way to get her to reprimand me .... :p

I will try to be much more conscious to ALL the rules in the future. But I will miss the gentle "backhand" you are so good at.

Please limit "self-bumps" and replies to your own auction thread to 1 every 24 hours... unless you have to answer a question. All other bumps/replies in under a 24 hours period are removed. FYI - this is a general "marketplace" rule - not just an auction forum rule.

Thank you -
Jennifer

I cannot stress this enough!

Multi-forum auctions are not permitted here at NamePros.

I have had to void, and close a rediculous amount of auctions today... and I do not enjoy having to do this... especially if there are folks bidding on the auctions.

Each member that posts their first auction is asked to read, and agree to a certain set of rules before posting their first auction - I highly recommend that you actually read these rules... because from now on.. rather than just voiding and closing the auction... I will issue warning points for violating the auction rules, and I will then void and close the auction.

Thank you
Jennifer

If our thread is closed, then we fix the errors, (Say delete the other forum, auction,) will are thread be re-opened?

I will consider reopening closed threads if a)the auction at the other venue is closed, and b) the auction at the other venue has no bids... not even $1

No exceptions.

Since it has come to our attention that asking buyers to cover Paypal fees is illegal, and against their TOS... sellers will no longer be able to request this fee.

4.7 No Surcharges. You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as a payment method. You may charge a handling fee in connection with the sale of goods or services, as long as the handling fee does not operate as a surcharge and is not higher than the handling fee you charge for non-PayPal transactions.

Can we ask that buyers use Paypal masspay then?

I am not 100% familiar with MassPay... but I will look into it. I assume, as long as no fees are being passed on to the buyer, it's ok.

does this apply only to the auction section or for sale section as well?
