How much does it cost to transfer a .com and .io domain name to Unstoppable Domains?

Also if the domain name is transferred into Unstoppable Domains and sells within a year, can it be transferred out to another registrar or does the buyer have to set up an account on Unstoppable Domains to take ownership of it?

The transfer promo boils down to about $5 off the usual price of the extension at Unstoppable.

Whatever the domain would usually cost to transfer is reduced by about $5. For .com, that means you have to pay $5.53 to transfer your name to Unstoppable.

But if the domain name sells within a year and you need to the Auth-ID for transfer out, you'll be required to pay back the $5 savings on the domain name.

You cannot transfer out a domain name until you've paid them back the amount you saved on that domain name.

The promo is essentially a hostage situation for your domain name. The promo savings is the ransom.

You'll need to pay the ransom before they release your domain name.

But the agreement only lasts for one year. After a domain name has spent 1 year at Unstoppable, you'll not need to pay back the promo savings to transfer out.

So the answer is Yes! You can transfer a domain out in less than a year. You just need to pay back the money you saved on that domain name by using their transfer promo.

Cost to Transfer Domains to Unstoppable Domains:

  • .COM: Transfer fee is $5.53, which reflects a ~$5 promotional discount from their usual price.
  • .IO: The transfer cost will vary based on their standard rate minus the ~$5 promo discount (exact rate depends on their pricing at the time).

Important Note on Promo Terms:
If you sell or want to transfer out the domain within 1 year, you'll need to repay the $5 promo discount before the domain can be released. This applies to both .COM and .IO (and likely other extensions under the promo).

Would you then need to renew the name with UD to be able to transfer it out and then have to pay another year at the recieving registrar as the transfer fee?

I guess what I asking is for the "offer" year to be up you'd need to renew?

who cares about 2nd yr etc... most domainers dont sell most domains. juat leave it all there til u sell... I dont even get it why people talk about paying the 5buck difference... if u get lead u finalize there 3% only and no worry to transfer.. and if u get sale sedo afternic etc and need to transfer then u do and pay the 5bucks... who the hell cares for 5us on a 1k or 5k sale

anyway I asked support savings are now only 2k max per account

still a good number in tough times

I got 60 names there.. so like 300 savings. will send more.

also got my first lead today on a name there gameroomio at 1k .. so I just setup bin lander at 1k... I'll see how sales work and push etc.. ans payout ... my first sale there.. if he buys .. hope goes well

enjoy
2k is a lott of money in some places... and 1month rent in usa and canada hahah

You could always use the post-expiration grace period to transfer out the domain names.

since we are all assuming if they will let u transfer out in expiry for no extra fee while this whole promo seems based about sticking around for a.renewal... well my assumption is they wont let u do it.

but again their renew cost is more than competitive.. and if u dont sell name then u renew anyway

so renewing year 2 there is a non issue...

That would be very illegal.

not if u have promo that says pay extra if u wanna transfer.. cause guess what expiry period is associated with domain active period from that promo.

the two go hand in hand

but as I said we are just swapping assumptions.

What you seem to be forgetting is that $5 multiplied by many domains can amount to a significant sum of money. Yes, 1-5 domains say, is not worth giving any time over, but if you have 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 or more domains, $5 for each is quite a lot of money.
For just 50 names, that $5 equals to $250 a year, every year. 1000 names equals savings of $5000.

This site is not populated by people who have 1 or 2 domains, so your argument is a pointless one.

And since you claim "most domainers don't sell most domains" (a ridiculous statement that has no basis in truth), then you have answered your own question, but you have not realised that.

Your post makes no sense. You need write in proper English if you want your posts to be read and perhaps replied to. Your posts use some of the worst English and slang/junk language I have seen.

our pricing can be found here: https://unstoppabledomains.com/dns-pricing

note that table doesn't show the automatic $5.53 discount that every transfer receives (up to $2k in discounts per customer). so you would subtract that from the transfer prices shown in the table to see your promo price.

as mentioned earlier and on several other threads, if you transfer out before 1 year you will pay us back the discount to get the auth code and so you will have paid the full list price for the incoming transfer. this is to prevent people from abusing us and transferring out immediately after getting the promo. you can't transfer out after expiry to get around this - you will need to renew the domain with us to keep it. this is compliant with ICANN rules, as you technically owe us for the transfer in cost until after you renew with us. our renewal prices are at-cost. so essentially you commit to a renwal with us if you want to get the free/discounted transfers.

alcy makes a good point - most domainers sell only 1-2% of their portfolio yearly. so if you need to transfer those out before 1 year with us and you end up paying $11 for those transfers, that is a small price to pay vs all the savings you'll get on the other domains you don't need to transfer out.

Having read a great many of your replies to posts on this and many other threads (I have only just started posting, but have been a long time lurker), I have come to the conclusion that you are not going to be in business very long.

Your manner, your poor attitude, your various way of being and the many things that you say and which are so SMH, is all reflective of low/poor IQ, poor standards and close to zero understanding about business and customers. And the big fat cherry on top is your ridiculous name, which is such a terrible name to have selected for yourselves as it puts you in a very high risk for failure - you are putting a target on your back.

I hope I am wrong because I genuinely like to see success, wherever it can arise. But several things have to be in place for success to take root and then to flourish and sadly for your operation, none of those factors are present with you.

Your promo is so poorly-worded it borders on shady advertising. The transferred domain names do not have to stay with you for 1 year. You hold them hostage for 2 years.

People cannot transfer out after 1 year. They can only transfer out after 2 years.

The promo is basically $16.58 for a 2-year transfer deal. $5.53 for the first year and $11.05 for the second year.

A lot of domain names NEVER sell, it's transfer promos that help people hold on to many of their domain names. You are running a promo that makes sure people cannot take advantage of a similar promo at other registrars.

You are deploying the predatory tactics of a monopolistic entity. The fallout is coming.

yes except odds of such promos elsewhere are low. or none.

I bet 100 within next 2 years there wont be a better deal around
.where in end u would save more than this 2k.

but... no one knows future.

for sure there wasnt one lately.

2k is alot to some... less to others..

it's all subjective. personally I don't mind doing this.

and ita not alot of names dont sell. ita most. str is tiny. unless someone is some newbie thinking str 99% lol lame

From their terms as of today: 'The offer requires that the domain remain registered with UD for the entire first year. If at any time during the first year period, the Customer wants to transfer the domain to another registrar, Customer must first pay UD the 50% savings (maximum $5.53) applicable to that domain at the time the domain was transferred to UD, in order to receive the transfer authorization code from UD.'

I do not believe that they can withold the auth code during expiry period and hold people to ransom as its after the first year. It makes it out to be just during the first year that the discount has to be paid back.

We need some with legal experience looking very carefully at this. And their changing terms to what was originally advertised with the amount of discount and taking weeks to update after they started changing the goal posts.

Also DomainSherpa should be made aware as they helping to promote this this does not reflect well on them.

the whole purpose in their head of this promo is 2nd year renewal. so u are guaranteed they wont give u code. thata not ddebatable.

what u can wonder about is whether this is legal and can be looked at by icann. which is your choice entirely.

I'm just writing this so people don't enter this promo thinking they will get code on expiry window. as some standard procedure here.
