With dot IN I would think you have two options, 1 sell it to end users with company names that match your acronym, or 2 develope it and get traffic.

If you sell it to end user maybe $500-$1,000. Do you have a business directory in India?

With the dot asia comming out, I think you are better off registering dot asia. Its more international than the dot IN and recognizable in many continents. But if you manage to hold on to your dot IN maybe in 10 years from now its value will increase. I think you have to understand the technology market in India to place a bet on it. From what I know, its better to sink the ship and go to dot asia.

I started domaining as a hobby in 2004 and now I think it about visibility of the domain and the players in it. Dot Asia has surpassed dot EU, MOBI, and the rest of the second to third place extension...If I were you I would jump into the dot Asia, even if you are not in the bidding process, buy now sell when marke opens.

i disagree with you i believe .asia will be of little value like .eu for example. i prefer sticking to .in. i am sure indians do prefer .in and .co.in over .asia and there are a lot of indians.LOL

There is an ongoing need for a .in valuation site.

According to Dot Asia dot org, the majority of customers who registered during landrush are Indians and Chinese. This proves yoru preference that there are those who registered dot Asia.

Dot Asia has by far succeed dot EU in numbers, $,$$$,$$$, and participants.
Participants for Dot Asia are people from the USA, EU, Australia, Southeast Asia, India and even Mid east.

Now if can you say the same for dot In? Nope. Size? way smaller, $,$$$,$$$? #?

I go for international/visibility.

I think the development ideas you have are good, their diverse and should make the sales. As I said alternatively, get a directory of dot indian either in a yellow book or so, match up the acronyms with actually companies and make them offers, and send it by snail mail too.
