I'm currently deciding between the .co.uk extension for three domains or the .uk extension, I can only buy one set of the extension so which one do you reckon is the best to buy? I like the idea of .uk being shorter however I'm not sure if this extension will become popular enough for people to recognise it like .co.uk is currently.

Thanks.

Good luck finding a good .uk with all of them being reserved for the .co.uk owners :)

As IceDude has said. You won't find any great .uk available for registration because .co.uk has the first dibs on any matching .uk domain for up to 5 years from .uk launch. But on the off chance you have done your research, and you have found three domains which are both available in .co.uk and .uk extensions, then I personally would go for both extensions. What's $6 per domain? It's peanuts. But of the two extensions, I'd choose the shorter .uk extension, If I had to select only one extension. You might get some confusion in the beginning with people not knowing about the new .uk extension, but in the long run, it would be the better investment. IMHO.

You might consider getting both extensions if you are actually going to develop the domains, for brand protection.
