1. Five digit .com domains (NNNNN.com's) are now all registered (all 100,000) and have been for several months. Daily drops have fallen from about 50+ day in the third quarter to around 30/day in the fourth quarter, similar to levels for LLLL.com drops.
2. We are approaching 100,000,000 registered .com domains, which is a remarkable and historic milestone. There are currently 99,243,228 registered and while we probably won't get there by year end, we will reach this milestone in early 2012. Registration in emerging markets is still strong and will continue to be so as internet penetration in many countries is still low. These trends help explain the huge demand for numeric domains, as Chinese demand is driving this market whereas several years ago it was a US company, Marchex, that was the primary player in five digit domains when they registered all 40k+ US zip code domains.
