I'm pretty new to the domain swaping world and I'm looking into purchasing some .tv domains. The only thing is they seem to be some what more expensve then some of the other extensions (.com,.net.org.us etc..) whats the reasoning behind this? Also I have a couple .tv names that have not been registered yet and when I appraise them with estibot most of them according to estibot are worth $700 and up. Can this really be true or should I note pay attention to estibot?

Here are the results of one of my apprasials:

Frequency (Google) 1690000
in Anchor Text 24000
in Title 20000
in URL 524
Backlinks 0
Alexa Rank Not Ranked
Traffic (Visits / Day) N/A
PPC Ads # 2
Max PPC Bid $0.14
MAX PPC Income/day $0.47
Overture/mo 6770
Wordtracker/day 909

http://EstiBot.com Valuation : USD 700

Are these numbers good and is it really worth $700.. I'm not listing any domain names since I've had people take ones I've asked questions about in the past. Thanks for the help.

No do not pay attention to estibot. You do not plug in a domain see the value from estibot at $700 and reg and flip for $700.

.tv at enom.tv are $24.99, Godaddy runs different promotions on new registration with renewal at $39.99.

Premium domains can only be regged through ENOM. You should always check availability through Enom.tv because if it is a premium it will show a link to the premium price.

Verisign owns the .tv corp and sets certain domains as premium like most LLL.tv are $500 a year. A generic word maybe $500 it may be $10,000 a year.

Read threads here and take your time. Make sure you know why your regging. This is not a quick flip extension especially regging names today.

Good luck to you and whatever you reg.

Yes, the price to reg a .tv is more than many other extentions. Why? Because they can charge that price as they're a business.

As to estibot, never rely on any auto-appraisal sites, they're not good. For Estibot it mentions that usually only .com names are the most accurate, but still, it's not accurate always either.

Never list any domains that you don't own otherwise someone else will reg the name if it's decent.

My advice would be to read all you can about what makes a name valuable & read the past threads here on NP & once you've spent quite a bit of time reading, about 3-4 weeks, then slowly get started. Otherwise you'll waste a lot of money regging crap names that are worth $0 like a lot of newbies do.

You might even consider Dynadot where you can drop a name & get a refund within 4 days of regging if you don't like the name, after asking for comments from the appraisals section. But .tv with them is $39.99 I believe.

Is it possible to get a refund for .TV?
I remember asking Godaddy for a refund, but I haven't received one.

If you do use Estibot, read the user's guide, it has the answer to this.

For .tv domains, figure out whether your domain name will make good TV or not. Or video etc.

My recommendation is to focus on expired domains and those being offered at bargain prices in the marketplace. Use Estibot as a basis for valuation, it's the best automated service BY FAR.

In addition, you should follow recent sale prices at places like Sedo, TDNAM, and the marketplace here at Namepros. Be Patient, wait for a domain name that really "grabs you" and where you think the seller has priced his domain too low (aka he needs the money).

I would think that 90% of your efforts should be directed in these areas and perhaps only 10% on hand registrations.

Good luck with your purchases and keep in mind that "cash on hand" is the top priority. This way you can "snap up" the deals as they appear.

And most of all.....have fun!

With Dynadot, yes. With Godaddy, not sure but I would presume that if you regged it within 4 days & want a refund, it might be possible. Best to contact their support for an official answer in regards to this.
