Sorry your question has sat here for so long without someone answering. I guess people here are sick of this topic.

Registerfly is in full meltdown. The governing body of Domain names, ICANN, is slowly moving to close them and move all the domain names held by them to another register, probably Godaddy or Enom. There is supposed to be a lock preventing names that expire from being deleted. Hopefully.

Nobody is getting any response from Registerfly tickets. Money sent to them vanishes without renewals or purchases being recorded.

Some people have been able to transfer out, others not. The process that worked for me is:

log in
click the name of the domain you want to transfer
just below the big heading of the domain name see Domain status - if it says "locked" click the word "locked".
Check the box that says unlock, click update.
Go back and do the same for protectfly and Auto renew (set to off)
Go back to the main page for that domain.

Here is where it is tricky. Just below the protectfly line is a blue bar that says Domain Contact Information. Click the little + on the right of the bar. It will either give you a black button saying configure, (click that) or it will give you the Admin, billing addresses and etc. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there is a black button marked configure. Click that. Once you click configure you get another page of the addresses and you will find the Authorization code at the bottom on the left. Copy /paste that and provide it to your new registrar when they ask for it.

Then go to the new registrar of your choice and follow their transfer procedure.

Others have had luck by creating a new account at Registerfly, moving their names there, and transfering out from the new account. Try the first way if you can.

Search "Registerfly" in the search box at the upper right of this page for more than you will ever want to know about Registerfly.

It takes time - it took from 2 days to a week for Registerfly to accept my domains. Then they transfer out.

I just got a reply from registerfly. They have my domain locked and I asked them to unlock it.

Here was their reply...
"Hello,

The domain is with enom. Please contact enom for further help.

Thank you.

Log into your enom account and check - it is likely to be there. I had a valuable domain that was no longer in my account and I panicked. I then checked my enom and account and it had just appeared there without me doing anything.

If you registered a domain after a certain point, some of the domains are in enom.

I don't have an enom account, though. I have a registerfly account.

You have an enom account now -consider yourself very lucky. Try your old registerfly ID and password at enom, if that does not work email enom. Enom is a big reputable (sic) company and they were selling names through Registerfly until a year or two ago when RF got their own accrediation. Enom pulled the names that they could out of RF a few months ago when this started getting really bad. Those names are safe at Enom, and Enom even will charge you Registerfly prices for renewals which are less than regular Enom prices. If you are unsure check whois (for example at domaintools.com) . If it says Enom as the registry then Enom, if it says Registerfly then you are still in the flytrap.

You should get an email from Registerfly at the email address listed in whois (see above) that says a transfer has been requested (this took about two or three days for me). Watch your spam filter. You can follow the instructions in the email to approve it and your transfer should go through very quickly, or not reply and it is supposed to go through in 5 days.

I contacted Enom and they said they do not have my domain name and that registerfly must still have it. I now have 4 days until my domain name expires. I am so frustrated.

Enom said to contact the registry. So I did and they said they could not help. They are waiting on instructions from Icann.

I sent an email to Icann and have not heard back yet...not like they can do anything anyways. :(

Sandyfeet - Go to Domaintools.com and look up your name. See what registrar is listed, Registerfly or Enom. If it is Enon write or call them and tell them Whois says they do have it. If it says Registerfly and you cannot transfer then I guess you have to sit it out until ICANN finaly takes the domains away from RF. No idea how long that will take. There is six weeks after expiry before the name is deleted, and Registerfly domains are not supposed to be deleted at all, but it is not a good situation.

Make screen shots of anything you can that could help prove the domain is yours. Making a lot of noise sometimes helps.

Good luck!
