I'm trying to transfer 2 names from GoDaddy to eNom. After a few days, I cancelled it and tried again. It still seems stuck at "Transfer in Process - Acquiring Current Whois for Transfer Verification" though, and no verification email as of yet.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Thanks -
Scott

The transfer may take up to 5 days to complete. Perhaps you cancelled before the transfer was complete. Also, check your e-mail address on the domains to be transfered. Did you get a transfer authorization e-mail?

I've transferred many times, this is the first time I've come across this "issue". No, no email yet.

Scott, yes, this happens quite often. In a nutshell, the automatic transfer process is getting stuck trying to resolve the whois information. Usually I get the transfer status error message that reads: "cannot obtain domain contacts from UWhois." I've discussed this issue with Enom tech support. They told me that when this happens they have to manually find the whois information to proceed with sending out the verification request. However, at any one time they may have thousands of domain transfers needing manual intervention, and they simply can not get to all of them in time (the system automatically closes the transfer before they can get to it).

I've figured out the best way to handle the situation is to either call tech support during business hours and get them to manually "fix" a transfer order, or to submit a support ticket. I prefer the phone because it has been faster.

I hit this a lot with transfers from godaddy. They seem to be one of the more agressive in blocking the whois. The stop showing the contact info!!! Just another reason to avoid godaddy.

Thanks, guess I'll give them a call. :tu:

I ended up sending an email due to time restrictions. Got a reply within a few minutes, and the transfer requests have come through. Thanks, guys.

Hello Scott,

I have manually updated the whois information and the verification email will be sent shortly to [email protected] - the listed registrant/administrative email contact for the domain.

Please look for this email, click on the link therein and respond accordingly. Please be sure to check bulk/junk/spam mail folders. If you are not receiving these verifications, I would recommend canceling the current order and resubmitting a FAX transfer request.

Thank you.
