Traffic To A Proxy

I recently started 3 proxy's, one is currently down. I was wondering can some of the user's that have started a similar business give me some advice on where is it best to advertise the proxy for free, cause i don't really have any money. I tried submitting my proxy to proxy topsites and directory's, that was on the site that is currently down, but i really didn't receive any traffic from that. Are there any other techniques out there?

from what iv see proxy.org listings have proven to be good!
i dont know prices etc and how effective they are now!
i bought a domain that was listed on proxy.org by previous owner a was getting a ton of traffic!
also proxy mailing list and top sites cant hurt
social network promotions will also be a plus!
link building and trades and maybe a lil seo

You might want to come visit my Proxy Forum (link in my sig) to learn more about proxies and how to promote them But I know that for my proxies, I submitted them to proxy.org and they get decent traffic. All you have to do, is put a backlink to proxy.org on your proxy, and use the contact form at proxy.org to ask them for a link on their site, and you will see some traffic right off the bat.

But again, be sure to check out the forum to ask some questions and get some good answers

One good traffic source is from Yahoo \ Google groups. You should join groups where you can post your own messages and post your proxies. More groups means more traffic, anyway these days traffic for proxies is really bad unless you target people that use them at work because the main traffic comes from schools and I suppose you know many students are in vacations right now.

What about forums? I mean not spamming, but recommending in general, wouldn't that work also with proxies?

Hello I had a proxy that got like 2 million hits in 10 days and I got thrown off my shared server(Don't use Shared Servers for proxy's).
Like Sourcer said Yahoo/Google Groups those are good for traffic but what I found to be very giving was Yahoo Answers It worked well for my proxy.
But Anything Helps out getting traffic to your proxy especially if you still go to school get your hole school using it.

ok i will try everything you said, i just recently registered at myspace and facebook, so when i figure out a little bit all the tools there i will advertise my proxy's, nice to know that it can be done, @owninizer i hope that i don't get that much traffic, cause i'm on free hosts, i know that this is wrong to do, but i don't have any money to invest cause i'm a beginner and i'm still learning, i want to have couple of hundreds of visitors on each one of my proxy, you can see them in my sig, well i'm off to advertising,

I noticed something. You dont have any ads on your proxified pages..... I know that google is not allowed however adbrite (which is what I use) is. I would urge you to put a 728 on all proxifed pages, this will increase rev greatly.

Plus just because every 13yr old pimply KID using facebook at school needs a Proxy site does not mean they will make money.

Why not use the Free Crap names (co.cc are BAD) and the free hosting (if that is all u can afford ) and do a little information site with some affilate ads
Make some real money with out all the hassles of proxy sites

yeah they put back the index.html, i think that it is not very wise to use one server to host your proxy's cause they can easily block IP of that server and all your sites are blocked with one hit. And if i would use more hosts it would be more expansive, and if you assign different IP addresses for your domains on one host it is expansive again, and since i don't have money to find host in the first place( showitall.info has a VPS host that i got from my friend), it is mission impossible to me. I found 2 free host that allow proxy's, OMGfreehost obviously isn't one of them, i will change them. I'm waiting that 7 days rule so i can post in myspace and i'm searching blogs to post my links there, i will contact proxy.org and we will see what happens.

Try to submit on yahoo answers, Proxy mailing lists, etc etc
