What's the best way to independently verify and analyze the traffic a domain receives?

index listings on google, yahoo and msn
use statbrain.com to approximate it's traffic.

the reason why I ask is because I am looking to start purchase domains that get random hits as I see $$$ potential in posting customized google/ebay ads. Not the parked pages that people automatically discard.

one problem i see with statbrain is that the stats are not very good for sites that receive less than 10 hits a day. "less than 10" is very ambiguous because the difference between 0 and 5 are astronomical

any tips?

if you're simply buying because of the traffic, then 10 uv per day is a good way to start or it's even less you might need to develop it further.

the problem with using "less than 10" as a figure is that you do not if they are referring to "0" or a low number like 2-3. there is a huge difference

and estibot and alexa will typically not have the stats for sites that get less than 10 visits a day. and i am looking for sites that get 3-7 hits/day as that is what i will be able to afford
