Time.Travel is an interesting one for the auction, I would think its no reserve so it maybe gets a couple hundred.

The point about no reserve or low reserve probably does mean you will see inventory like this going forward. Thriller.com should be an interesting one not sure the reserve.

I think thats too high but it can still sell at that reserve.

Not only are the submissions getting poorer with time, but the people submitting the names are also getting more crazier.

Many of those reserves are not realistic. And guess what-those domains ain't gonna sell. We know what prices decent names have fetched at Traffic before. E.g. Tumors .com, etc

Now make sense of this if you can: poor/mediocre names with unrealistic/ high reserves.

Some folk just don't learn. I see some unsold 2012 Traffic submissions in the mix. This year-it'll be the same old story. This affects the chances of selling the domain. What reseller is gonna buy a domain that has been sitting on the shelf, Traffic auction after Traffic auction ? Interest in those names would be very limited. Could be the high reserve/ poor quality names, or both.

It's an event with resellers-not an event packed with interested end-users.

I think 3DChannel.com for let say 10K is a lot better deal and would be a better return on investment after development or even as a pure domain investment than thriller for let say 250.000.

Thats just my personal opinion, but thriller is one of those typical domainer one word names which trigger an initial "WOW, PREMIUM ONE WORD" reactions the first time you see it, but then you realise that its not THAT commercially usable and potentially profitable after development (a site with thriller movies with "thriller" from Michael jackson as background music?!..), unless one of the brand owners who use "thriller" would be really willing to pay let say minimum 500.000 for it. Extremely risky investment IMO.

I hope 3Channel will sell over 10k. imo a good investment, reserve price is reasonable, a name with future (both for own development ideas and potential endusers), good luck Giles.

Why would you even put a high reserve on your name if you're confident enough that your domain is worth a decent price lol

Could very well sell, You want at least one really good high priced domain on the list, It does a few things, makes the name stand out from the crowd, draws more attention to it and gets Traffic attendees talking during the convention, all of which amount to more bidding.

I stopped submitting names long ago after they required domains to be transferred to Moniker, I didn't like that at all... When they wanted to include a few of my names, they asked me to slash my reserve price.. For example on a domain that I received several offers in the $25K-$30K range from resellers like Hotkeys, they wanted it slashed to $15K..

Why do that and pay them a outrageous commission to boot?... Makes more sense to take the 30K and run it through Escrow.com, where the buyer pays the miniscule escrow fee.

Compared to before, a lot more thought is going into these live auctions, most of which is to the auctions benefit.

Not sure about the live feed JB, I know that you cant place bids online, The Bellagio warned Rick about possible wireless interference from MiFi devices..

Many People have asked Rick about the live feed, he has not responded yet .. Let's hope they have atleast live feed since they don't have live bidding online which kinda sucks .. And as Rick said this auction is gonna be fast moving :D

Someone commented on one of the blogs that he could only find 5% of the domains on the list to bid on. I told that person that a professional investor would focus on that 5%. Don't you WISH you could look at a list of domains and find 5% that you like?? I have had hundreds of thouands of domains submitted to me over the years and I can tell you that 5% is a big number. It's roughly 100x more than the average domain in any list I have seen.

Just a note, don't get caught asleep. There my be a domains listed that are quite a but under "Reserve under". Pus 70% of the list is NO RESERVE. A true no nonsense auction where you can rest assured all bids are real, genuine and folks that have preregistered to bid. No GHOSTS!!!
