There is a very popular tv station that goes by LLLL.tv in which the exact 4 letters are available. Would it be a trademark violation getting that name.
For example, let's say the tv station went by XELA and I registered XELA.tv would it be a trademark violation? It's confusing because you can also use 4 letter LLLL as other acronyms as well.

Thanks, Jim

As long as you can show you ABSOLUTELY have a definitive other use for it, and build it as such, then I would say you might be ok.

On the flip side, knowing that it is already a tv station puts you on shaky ground from the start and you are taking a chance of loosing it.

I agree with Mr Bulldog,

Even if you do have a plan for it, ask yourself if it really has to be that name you use your plan for, if not then don't reg it.

Not worth the risk imo.

Thanks for the feedback. Think I will pass on the name. Not worth it.

Thanks, Jim

My feelings as well. With so much out there, why mess around with a pain in the posterior trademark issue that even if you prevail may not be the bonanza you had expected.

I had some tm names and just wrote it off to experience.

I agree with stone and bulldog on this one. While it may be tempting, unless you're truly going to develop it (and be honest with yourself on this), leave it alone.
