Hi, seeing all these threads inspired me to reg "trademark for dummies"' dot com. Is this a trademark domain? Does the "Dummies Series" have a trademark on my name? Should I keep this name or get a refund on my reg fee? Appreciate any legal advice. Thanks.

It's currently parked. The intention for regging this is to provide a one-stop website for references to trademark cases, basic laws surrounding trademark and any other trademark issues of interest (ie. hot to trademark, who sues who)

I won't be writing my own content because I'm not qualified (and will never be qualified) to do so. My plan is to invite reputable figures within the trademark industry to contribute content.

Am I ok? Or am I infringing on any trademarks?

The company is going after people who use "for dummies" in blog post titles, so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have any problems coming after you.

Seems like they allow the "for dummies" as long as one includes "Attribution Language: FOR DUMMIES® is a registered trademark of Wiley Publishing, Inc."

If that is correct, make sure to put that on your site somewhere visible. (On the bottom should be fine). Also, IMHO you should remove the parking, as that can possibly be construed as bad faith... better to have a coming soon page.

They might still make you drop the domain and tell you to register TrademarkForDummiesIsARegisteredTrademarkOfWileyPublishingInc.com instead.

The attribution stuff is regarding news headings / blog titles, not website branding.

You're seeking to use "for dummies" as part of your brand - that's likely not going to fly.

In my view, you'd do better, especially for a site about TMs, to come up with a unique / original name that's not piggybacking on someone else's mark.

just stay away from "for dummies" and they're hot trademarks.
