I found this here: http://www.igoldrush.com/feat001.htm -

================================================

- .... There is a top-secret discussion board where key domain players exchange inside information!

For obvious reasons, I am not going to provide details! Let me just say this: the discussion board does exist, and it counts some of the most powerful domain name owners in the world (judging by their domain portfolios) among its members.
....
================================================

Has anyone ever heard of this? :)

Nice find, I'm guessing the board is largely inactive though, especially compared to NP. ;)

I am guessing the opposite. If more people knew about it and could help their community then people would join. I joined and awaiting admin verification. Lets hope they accept me.

I have never heard of the Bilderberg group but it sounds remarkebly like the supposed illuminati (who are supposedly also very high up in freemasonry). In all walks of life these sort of conspiracy theories exist and to be honest it is very surprising the extent of what people beleive. I remember looking through a forum of conspiracy theories and 1 was about the human race being run by lizard type creatures passing themselves off as human and people actually took it seriously.

It's not lizards! My secret sources are telling me that they are actually small geckos. Small but very powerful... Recently they gained control of the car insurance industry!
The Bildenberg group, however, is as real as the sun in the sky on a clear day. They've been real for over 50 years and continue to meet annually to discuss the real deals - sort of like a hard core G8 summit. The most recent meeting took place in Canada in June - http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=9f17103c-f448-40bb-b1c0-c3223495e161&k=51294 - I hope you don't believe that it's the presidents and prime ministers that run countries...

:) So I admit, I was joking and exaggerating with the secret domain traders forum - but at the same time (being aware of the fact that the government is nothing, but the highest level of business) I predict that it will sooner or later take over or eliminate the most profitable aspects of the internet as we know it today. That will mostlikely include the domain name industry as well. (already started with curbing online gambling, hasn't it?) :imho: of course

There is a paid domain forum with exclusive features for exclusive members.
I'm sure some of you know what I'm referring to. ;)

You could say it's a secret forum because not too many people (except those
here and in other domain forums) know about it.

in all honesty regardless of wether things like the Bilderberg group exist business always influences government. Most political parties get the majority of their money from *donations* from big business. If an political party gets such donations from a company they will be reluctant to pass laws that go against that company otherwise they are in danger of losing a major source of funding.

Why do you think people like the tobacco industry and Bernie Ecclestone made multi million £ donations to the UK government when bills were being made regarding tobacco sponsership/advertising within sport. It is not coincidence that formula 1 got a reprieve for a while and other sports could no longer use such advertising/sponsorships. If someone has enough money politicians will listen.

Looking at a supposed list of people who attended the 2006 meeting in ottawa it is mainly finance experts and politicians with a few academics and industry members in attendance. It certainly does not look like a list of extremely rich people, some influential yes but not rich.

For example:-
Bredow, Vendeline von, RAPPORTEUR (correspndent for the economist magazine).
Clarke, Kenneth (uk mp, not exactly a high ranked mp at that, the party he is a member of isnt even the party in power).

And for good reason, Rick Swartz didn't make his millions sharing ideas with others,In no way am i saying it is a bad thing to share ideas with others,The problem lies here...People are hungry to make $$$'s....they will beg,borrow and steal in this industry to do it...So it goes both ways...Share to much....let some cats out the bag..It can cost you dearly...I think Rick Swartz was,and is smart for doing his business how he see's fit,After all...He has made millions

I've felt this way for years now, some people talk too much, when they find a good thing and tell it to the world well it just isnt very smart biz, I cant believe some of the things people have posted about here and on other forums. I've PM'ed a few people in the past and told them to zip it in the nicest way I could.
