Too Many Auctions???

Hey!

I want to start this post off by saying that all the NP auctions I have attended have been great, but in the last couple of days I have been thinking if we have gone a little overboard. It seems everytime I login to NamePros, I see a scattered post in one of the forums, that says there is a Live Auction in the chat right now. I have two main concerns with this:

1. The quality of the auctions is going to drop. The official NP auctions always have a bunch of good domains, but with unofficial auctions the quality is going to drop.

2. Attendance. A lot of people, including myself enjoy attending these auctions, but it is hard to attend when it is so sparatic. I think we need a little better system then people just posting: "Auction Right Now". Maybe if we have an official auction every week, or twice a week, but not every day.

Again, the auctions are always great, its just that I think we have gone a little overboard. Let me know what everyone else thinks about this issue.

lol, i agree. I appreciate the idea of having an auction in the live chat, however to have one on most nights not only detracts from the conversational value of live chat it also lowers the value of the auction system itself, with less quality domains appearing more and more frequently. IMO, less is more.

These 2days been only mainly testing out the script tho. Otherwise we wouldnt have these auctions.

Also the official ones are announced by NP staff, The unofficial ones by the auctioneers at the moment.

Also the unofficial ones are just once a week or 1 in 2 weeks. No more.

Also when people comin they think they can chat freely, they can, but when a auction is going one, they still talk.

I think 24/7 unofficial auctions would be just fine in theory, especially if it was in a second room on the server or something.

As long as everyone realizes "unofficial" (Name the room "unofficial?")

True, wouldn't get the same traffic, or same prices, but things would sort themselves out somehow

The OFFICIAL auction this Tuesday will be the main one, the "official" one, and the one where there should be the largest turnout :D

Ya, that is the one I have really been waiting for. I think a bi-weekly official auction might be best, with no unofficial auctions. This keeps the quality up, as well as allows it to be a regular event, but still a special event.

If it did end up being a weekly event, we should make sure it's not the same time and day each week, otherwise some people would never be able to attend.

But that means some people will attend the auction only once per 15 days, which is quite long time.

I suggest that official auctions run twice a week, different time each.

Official Auctions are run by RJ or another member of the NP Staff, and are announced in the Announcements Forum up top. Unofficial auctions are basically run by a bunch of members when ever they feel like having an auction. Personally, I don't think the unofficial ones are necessary, but thats just my opinion.
