To take or not to take? This is the problem.

Hi...
I was looking at some overture scores for certain keywords.
Casually, I found out this:

152750 department store target

I checked on my tool, and I discovered that targetdepartmentstore.net is available for registration.

Now... I don't know what to do. This name seems awful to me, maybe as I am italian. Three words, very long combination... but 152750 people searching for it montly.

So... what should I do in your opinion?

p.s. I don't mind if you register it, feel free to do so - just donate if you find it useful.

IMHO, I would only reg it if .com was available, but thats just me.

I'm in a speculative mood (been buying indian typos amongst other strange domains) so I regged it. I very much doubt it will do much, as izmas said if it was the .com maybe ...

But, we'll see. gattoplano if you do want it, let me know before I see any traffic and I'll let you have it for reg fee (NC).

Well ... serves me right I guess!

I just received a very formal email from TBI (Target Brands Inc) stating that I must immediately cease the use of said domain name and take action to hand it over to TBI.

I had whois guard on the domain, so it was forwarded to me.

I had forgotten that I put "poker" as the keyword - something they were particularly not happy about!

Just a lesson for anyone squatting on such domains that eventually, The Man catches up with you =0)

(and in case anyone is interested in this experiment with OVT, it received 48 views and 2 clicks on the four months I had parked it - total revenue, $0.16!)

Ohhhh that's too bad! It was the first thing I thought of however when I read the domain name - Trademark issues.


But why did you choose POKER as your keyword? If you had chosen SHOPPING or something you probably would have gotten more clicks - they say to always use keywords related to your domain name because people are looking for things related to your domain name? Or was it just an experiment?

I think I originally tried Target or Shopping, but to no avail. It was actually by mistake it updated to Poker, I think I updated a group of domains at Namedrive and it must have been included.

And yeah, I knew it was a trademark issue - like I said, it was an experiment. I'm not bothered one iota about handing it over ...

OH that's good! Your info helps out the rest of us too and hopefully any new people thinking of registering branded company names.

That's almost silly on so many levels... I can't think of a bonafide interest you would have (Call that legit) , the overture for the .net doesn't exist, type ins would be "nada" and SEO would be next to impossible...

Meanwhile, the folks over at All Posters .com don't get hassled at all by Target when they run a page like http://www.rightontarget.com.

I know, maybe All Posters told Target that the posters they sold there were supposed to be used by their customers as actual targets! LOL!
