Hello Friends,

Please add more of your thoughts to the below post.

Its not an new thing to tell, everyone of us are well aware that Title tags are most important tags in search engine optimization and also at the same its also the most effective tag. Search engines use this tag to determine the topic of the web page or what the page is all about and also the it’s the first thing that searchers see in search engine and probably it’s text in the title tag that makes searchers to click on the site. So it’s essential to have the proper keywords included in the title tag.

In this article I have tried to include few tips that will help to write effective title tags.

1) Always use your main keyword or key phrase in the beginning of the Title tag.
2) Make sure that the keywords or key phrase you are using in the title tag are present in the content of the web page.
3) Limit the length of your Title tags to 55 to 65 characters including spaces.
4) Avoid over stuffing or over use of keywords in Title tags.
5) Include call to action in your Title tags
6) Write Title tags in title case.
7) Make less use of stop words, they just eat the character length of your keywords.
8) Include only 2 or 3 of your main keywords in Title tag that two in combination and not separately.
9) Have unique Title tags for all the pages of web site.
10) Doesn’t copy paste the Title tags of your competitors, it can invite search engine penalties.
11) Avoid too frequent changes in Title tags.
12) Don’t include URL name in Title tags
13) Include your company name at the end of tag

Keyword Mix

When you are optimizing the title tags you should mix the keywords very efficiently that it looks natural to search engines. You mix 2 or 3 keywords effectively in such a way that they tell your visitors what the page is about instead of stuffing your keywords in it. E.g. if you have a online flower store in London and Special Birthday Flowers, Flowers in London are your main keywords then I will write the title tag like
<TITLE>Special Birthday Flowers in London</TITLE>

Brand Name or Company Name

You should always include your brand name or company name at the end of the tag or after you are finished with including your keywords so now our title tag will look like

<TITLE> Special Birthday Flowers in Lodon by Xyz Florist</TITLE>

Call to Action

Always try to include call to action in your title tags if possible because it will tempt your searchers to click your listing. E.g. If you are selling flowers at 10% discount, then you should convey this through your title tags. So now our title tag will look like

<TITLE>Special Birthday Flowers in Lodon by Xyz Florist at 10% Discount</TITLE>

So this will be our Ideal Title tag we also include our main keyword i.e. Special Birthday Flower in the H1 tag of the page and make sure if this is also included in our content and alt text.

Placing a keyword phrase at the start of the title tag allows it to be seen better by the search engines. Look at the following examples:

ABCDEF Electrical - Hi-Fi Systems
Hi-Fi Systems - ABCDEF Electrical
Both of these two examples are acceptable to human eyes but in the eyes of the search engines the second is see as more relevant if 'Hi-Fi Systems' is searched for because it appears at the start of the title. Generally it is best to place company name or the name of website to the end of your title tag.
