Last night I scored my first $xx,xxx domain and after a few minutes of excitement I began to fear the worst, domain theft. It's been a hot topic recently and was thinking of ways it can be avoided, so far I've come up with this:

1. Move the domain to fabulous/moniker or another register with enhanced protection.

2. Avoid free email accounts, block javascript/images/java/flash in my mail reader, and not click on any links from unknown emails to avoid xss attacks/exploits.

3. Install a free/cheap linux distro such as linspire on my hard drive and boot into that operating system exclusively for managing domains.

The last one might seem a little extreme but I'd be willing to bet most domain thefts occur from the result of a keylogger, something that is much less likely to end up on a linux system as opposed to windows. Especially one that is only used for a single task.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I don't normally link to my own sites in threads, however I haven't seen any other sites cover it in depth, so:
