I honestly think that as of right now, the most likely chance as far as a woman becoming president would be senator Olympia Snowe of Maine, but not for a few more years. Clinton and Rice have too much bad associated with each of them and either one would be a bad move for a nomination (although we all know Hillary has had her eye on the job since before Bill even finished his terms). Either one would more than likely be easily defeated in a national election.

Snowe on the other hand, has decades of applicable experience, and was selected by Time as one of "America's 10 Best Senators" back in April. Her main issue is lack of name recognition with the majority (or should i say, plurality) of Americans, however her politics are rather moderate and she is from New England, so if she could swing a Republican nomination she would have a great chance at winning it all. Otherwise, if she wants to make a run at it, she will have to spend a few years getting her name out there a bit more.

The first woman president will be a dem not a rep.....that's just about guaranteed . ;)

What reasoning do you have for this statement?

Women can handle more than men! They can multi-task too. I am a guy, so I am not playing some feminine speach, but it is proven!

Who has proven this? Do you have verifiable test results? If you're going to make sexist statements, atleast make some attempt at supporting them please.

I would like to believe that we could get rid of the electoral college. However, it has it's benefits. For example, if one president where to get all of califronia to vote for him while another get's 51% of the votes of 4 other states, just by vote count, the president who got all of california may have more votes. That is not really fair.

However, bieng that I do not consider myself republican or democratic (libertarian with a slight conservitve lean is what I am), I think popular vote should count. So, I have sortof a mixed opinion on how the system should work.

Anyway, I'd love to see Rice vs. Clintton in the next election.
However, since this thread has changed into a discussion more about a president that is not a chrisitan white guy, I'd love to see Colon Powell become president. In general former milatary officers in the USA have made decent presidents.

My opinion is that Colin Powell would have a better chance of winning the nomination and election vs Hillary than C. Rice... in general, I believe more would be accepting of a white woman president or black male president than a black woman president.. but that's just my gut feeling.

I'd love to see someone like Powell in office.. however, I don't see that happening. He most likely wouldn't run in the first place.

BTW- I consider myself a Republican based on the "less government" philosophy.. but in actuality would vote for the better man (or woman) for the job.

In terms of women doing a job.. I'm all for equality, provided they actually do the job themselves. While we won't see Ms. President do any heavy lifting.. I've had many occasions in the past working with females who expected equal treatment but just couldn't handle their responsibilities.

Don't get me wrong tho.. I think women are genetically suited to politics. Anyone who can fake an orgasm should be able to bluff in the War Room.

Anybody hear a whip crack... :hehe: I doubt it has been proven that woman can handle more than men or that they can multi-task better. The only thing woman can do that a man can't do is have babies. The only thing men can do that women can't is burp and fart at the sametime and even that takes practice. :)

I'd like to see a nobody elected to office, a free thinker with no ties to anybody or anything. Someone who has the balls to tell it like it is and then some. I definatly do not want Hilary "Rotten" Clinton in the office she is a dirty as one can get, although having Bill Clinton as the first man would be cool.

The fact that women can multi-task and men can't. Plus women wouldn't get caught in sex scandals, and they know how to keep their mouth shut. Men just brag and then everything goes around...

Let's face it, lol.

I can multi-task like nobodys business in fact it's one of my best skills and the majority of women I have know throughout my life all blabbed...ever hear of gossip women are famous for it. Women are alot more emotional then men as we all know so if the female president have a sex scandel you would have a safe bet she would get emotionaly tied to that person and all hell would break lose.

That wasn't sexist at all...

You know, not many presidents in general get caught in sex scandals. To use that as the basis to say that a female president would be bad is foolish. Billy was just stupid. Everyone thinks JFK had an affair with Marylin Monroe, but it is all just rumours, he kept it a secret.

I would think that plenty of other presidents had affairs but the public doesn't need to know about that stuff. I assure you that many men can be douchebags when it comes to women.

Lastly, you seem to think that what a president does in his/her personal life effects their job. I don't know why you think this, because any intelligent person should know to keep personal life and professional life as two seprate things. Maybe you should.

You can call them whatever you like, but when someone states something as "fact" is is no longer "opinion" unless there is some sort of evidece to back it up.

I seriously don't think so. I think it will take a conservative to moderate women to get a majority of the male vote. It's just my observation, but I think (generalizing) most female democrats are toward the liberal end of the scale, and most republican women are toward the moderate end of that scale. It will take a woman toward the center to get enough votes from both sides to get elected.

Opinions do not need evidence, if my opinion is that aliens exist how would i show some evidence otherwise. You really need to stay on the topic at hand :hehe:

I really do not see the reps being the ones to put forth a woman as a canidate for president, the dems have been struggling and it's just the type of stunt that they would pull to gain back some leverage. Regardless of what we all think of Hilary "Rotten" Clinton she is most likley going to be our next female canidate for president.

I don't think I am the one to go off topic.
Opinions are only opinions until someone presents them as fact. Then they do require evidence.

I'm very relaxed.
It's 85 degrees outside. I have wine. I have BBQ. Life is good.
That is a fact.

Back on topic, at least in general. I don't think Hilary has a chance of ever winning the Democratic leadership. I think the Dems just keep throwing her out there to drive the Right crazy. I don't think anyone in the Democratic party actually considers her a serious candidate.

That, is just my opinion.
