Hi,

I have been following this .TV section with great interest over the past few months and would like to congratulate the Namepros members on their excellent Buys, Ideas for others and say thanks for some of the amazing insight on .TV's possible future i have read here.

I am now extremely excited about .TV future and of course kicking myself that i didnt believe the TV hype sooner.

Obviously i am too late to Reg a good keyword .TV now but i thought id look into some possible names in categories that fit the extensions.

Here is 2 i found, really i have very little idea if they would make good .Tv domains but i will try to explain my reasons (please tell me if you think im completely wrong)

The Categorie i decided to look into was "History"
I think that if .TV is to be developed into "channels of media content" in future then surely History will work well.

You can have Historical facts, figures, dates but also use video clips to re create historical events so these sites would be much more interesting.

Here is a few domains under this categorie i felt would work well (domains were said to b available when i typed this):

19thCentury.TV, 18thCentury.Tv, 17thCentury.tv....etc

Does anyone think these domains fit the .Tv extensions and/or of any worth? (please feel free to reg is you like these as i am only asking researching just now and not looking to buy yet)

Would History related domains be good for .Tv extension in your eyes, if not then please explain why.

**Sorry to be asking so many questions without really offering anything in return but .TV is completely new to me and with me witnessing so many .Tv domains being bought up then im struggling to see which would fit the extensiin best for its long term plans**

Thanks in advance for any replies and sorry to of typed so much!!

Welcome to dottv

We are all equally excited with everything thats going on right now with the .tv name space.

Not necessarily you are late, as they are few good ones available upon searching.

Oh, yes for sure, but, imo, they are good names for development or if you are able to attract that end buyer who has same ideas.

Good luck with your quest for .tv names.

Thanks for quick reply.

Can i ask:

DO you think .TV will be much more about development and added media content rather than other extensions such as .com & .info which are full of badly developed websites or many parked domains.

WIll .TV be the major extension to develop their domains as they should be or is this just an ambitious hope at the early stages?

It appears to me that .TV is only worthwhile if we all develop our names since they make no sense parked. This is why i am so keen now on .tv as a n extension since for me development & developed sites are what the internet is all about.

I don't think you are too late to register top notch .tv's. I always felt the quality of the name lies with each individual person. Personally I like names that make sense & don't strive to have the end all generic term or else.

I like the names you mentioned in your initial post & think they make a ton of sense developed. I will be the first to admit I don't put enough time into site developments. I will be changing that especially in the coming year with a major .tv that will be debuting along with a matching .com

I love the ideas you mentioned tying in history with video clips. I think you have something real good here. I wish you the best of luck with them!

I think history domains overall can be good - if you care about the topic, as they are not instantly monetizeable. they will take love and attention!

But if history does it for you, then try searching a bit more because I think you can do a good deal better than the names mentioned above.

1. I can't imagine anyone typing all that out: 1-7-th-century.tv (and I don't mean for type-in traffic, I mean in general, it is annoying)

2. I don't think people think of historical events in centuries. i think people think of events.

to stimulate your thinking, here are a couple of freebie that are available: DarkAges.tv and BubonicPlague.tv

I would work down those lines to see what you can find before regging the last 25 centuries of human history! ;)

Please report back on what you find!! though historical .tv names do not really fit my strategy (i do have one random historical name only), a historical thread could be fun.

later, i will toss a couple of other freebies in --- if nobody finds them first! :)

I have a couple of events that I will develop soon, I think historic events are a terrific use for .tv domains, as there are undoubtably videos/films/footage available for the owner to use. I picked up ManhattanProject.tv a while back, as well as WWII.tv .......

Some available events.....
KoreanWar.tv
SpanishAmericanWar.tv
CubanMissileCrisis.tv

Im glad the replies so far do agree that History type domains could be good developments for .tv, glad to hear im thinking on the same lines as some of the more experienced .TV owners.

My thinking of History domains or any schools, learning, educational type is:

Lets say your kid is struggling to get to grips with Homework on 19th century France for example.
Most parents have little idea on Historical events once we leave school, so you say to your kid "Why not look up 19th century TV" to see clips on this era.

Obviously the way im explaining it is a little simplist and i do agree 19th century.tv or 18thcentury.tv arent the ideal domains but History or any educational subject could be the ideal type of .Tv domain.

Im not sure if i have enough love of history to build a rich content .tv history domain which would do it justice, i always agree that you should develop in a subject you enjoy to get the best results.

I will continue to look for possible .TV domains to develop now i feel i have a better idea of development ideas that other .Tv owners are thinking of, i hope to report back soon with a decent buy.

As an aside.... I took a graduate level course as an undergraduate once, and I will never forget it. The professor did not give us graded homework or any tests throughout the semester, until the last test, which he stated would account for 100% of our grade. He reserved a room for four hours for us, then asked us to answer one question:

"What is the social, political, miltary and economic history of eastern europe in the 20th century."

Lol, anyways, you talking about '20th century' just reminded me of that ( from 25 years ago ) .

I really enjoyed History at school but like most people i found reading page upon page of facts, dates, times...etc was extremely boring.

I wish the Internet was in full flow when i was still at school as a research tool, using a well developed .TV history page could be brilliant for getting Historical info without the boredom by using all the media content available with vibrant colours which would be far better than reading from books over and over.

The more i think about doing some kind of History .TV site then i get more passionate about it, my major worry is i dont have the time, patience or the advance knowledge anymore to come up with whats needed.

My background in domains is from selling gambling advice so doing a History site would be a big difference compared to the exciting but unreliable world of gambling,

I'll keep looking, researching and thinking for now.

There are some great related affiliate programs, A&E's History Channel, or videos from Amazon, posters and such from Allposters, at shareasale.com, there is an affiliate program for military medals and such, National Geographic has a terrific affiliate program, and think of all of the topics THEY have content on.... At CJ.com there is an online game that gives you commissions for anyone you get to join their multiplayer game - it is a world war I aircraft simulator where you have dogfights. Anyways, history, especially military history has some nice affiliate sales potential, if you develop a site, many of which will give you ideas about content.

Thanks for that last post Roguewriter, i was trying to think of possible income streams for Historical sites but was coming up blank so far.

Im gonna make a list of any additional incomes available once i find a few decent buys so i can compare all the pros and cons of this History Tv idea.

Im trying not to do my usual and get ahead of myself and Reg a poor name before finding out how i should best develop it, in past few months i have set myself rules & a checklist of things to look out for before i reg anything after buying a few terrible names on spur of moment which ended up parked until reg ran out.
